Samuel Merritt BSN program waiting list

U.S.A. California

Published

:monkeydance: I got into the waiting list for the BSN Fall 07. Is anybody else in same shoes?

Do you know how many people from the waiting list usually get in?

How many total spaces are in the program?

Did somebody graduate from there?

Any feedback would be appreciated :uhoh3:

Thanx

whoa, only 4-6?! :/

i'm number 17 on the waitlist. what number are you?

I'm number 11. Ugggh. Isn't the wait absolutely awful? But yeah, 4-6! I contacted the person in charge of calling people (I'm not allowed to mention her name here on the forum due to terms of use violations) and she said it would be pretty unusual if I did get in considering their history of only accepting a few people off the waitlist each semester.

My friend's currently attending their program (she was admitted for this past Spring semester) and she was #3 on the waitlist and she was admitted 2 months after her waitlist notification was received!!! 2 MONTHS! and she was #3!!! AHHHH! I'm going to PM you because I have loads of questions if that's alright.

i got your private message, but it says i don't have permission to send private messages. if you PM me your e-mail address, i can reply to you through e-mail.

Hei there,

I was the one who started this thread two and a half years ago when I was in your place. I was number 3 on their waiting list and did get in.

Here is the story, there are usually 60 spots available each semester. Majority of the people who are getting in are from sister colleges: Saint Mary's, Holy Names, and Mills. The leftover spaces are given to people from all the other colleges (community colleges and such). I think that now things are a little different than two years ago, because the nursing shortage is gone and its impossible to find a job as a new grad. I am thinking that some people may be giving up on getting this degree because of the current job market.

Based on two years ago, i'd say that first five spots had a good chance of getting in. Now I do not know.

Please let me know if you need any more info :)

Good luck

P.S. I bet ya that there are more spots available for the Spring semester for people applying from other than their sister colleges

Thanks!!

I'm actually getting pretty hopeful since I'm next up in line on their waitlist (and the e-mail sounded pretty exciting..she used exclamation marks and everything like I had a good chance of getting in)

I did hear there are more spots available for spring, so if I don't get in for fall I will ABSOLUTELY be re-applying for spring.

The shame is that they now want the TEAS (starting after this semester, I believe) instead of the NET. I did pretty good on the NET (98th percentile) but not very well on the TEAS (87.7%), so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get on the waitlist again! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the helpful information. Really!

good luck bluechick. how far down the list are you from getting admitted?

I'm #11, and they just offered a spot to #10. So if just ONE more spot becomes available, I'll be in! :)

I'm SOOOOOO nervous and SOOOOOO excited! Thanks for the good luck wishes.

Good luck for all of you :) I would encourage you to look into some research about what is happening right now on the job market for nurses. Caution... half of the class that graduated in December 08 still doesn't have jobs.

bluechick,

I sent you a PM. :wink2: It looks like you'll be getting in! :D:D:D

Oh no! That means you won't be going! :( I'm actually sad because I was hoping to know some people I'd be attending the school with!

Best of luck to you at Sac State!

natalyk, have you tried the VA? My Mom's a hiring nurse manager there and she's ALWAYS looking for RN's. In fact, she just hired 3 or 4 new grads from the Samuel Merritt program a few weeks ago!
