Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

Have you taken the teas?

Hi cokemachine,

I was at the TEAS test for alternates too! Did you go to any orientation? I thought as alternatives we just pick up the packet and we don't get any orientation...

How was orientation?

What did they discuss?

Question. Anyone applying to pcc that is a transfer know how you apply for the spring nursing program but you can't apply to the school for spring when its not up yet?

You can apply for fall so you can get a student id number, and then turn in your nursing application before the deadline.

Thanks!

My friend and I just applied to the school. Now we ordered our current transcripts. So do I have to turn in transcripts to the school right now? I know when I apply to the program that I need to bring everything in a packet. What's included in the packet?

BTW we hear acceptances/denials 12 weeks after app deadline :)

I don't think you need to turn in your transcripts right now. I think you just need to turn them in with your application and everything else required. You need to include your transcripts, high school transcript, and if you have a degree from another school. TEAS results will be sent there because you can add the school at atitesting.com That's all I know as of right now. 12 weeks? That's a long wait..When is the waiting process going to end lol. Thanks for the info! :)

Did you tuen everything in yet?

xtinaw,

I thought there was going to be an orientation 1st followed by the test. But yeah, just the test then left. I guess the 1st day of class is orientation. I wonder what I should expect

Did you tuen everything in yet?

No, I haven't had the time to turn anything in yet because I'm still taking a summer class. I'll be done by the end of this week, so after that then I'll get everything done by the deadline. I still have to get my high school transcript. By the way, do you know anything about riverside's nursing program? I want to apply there too, just wondering any opinions about it.

Oi!

RCC program is pretty good from what I have heard. It is the only ADN program that I know of that the students that graduate there have actually gotten jobs. Also, they have a collaboration with CSUF to get your BSN fast. Pretty much my top choice ADN program. You might want to look into CSUF too. They have a BSN program but its kinda weird how it works. That is the closest BSN program to me and I would like to get in, but I heard they are very hard to get into.

I am still doing all my research on everything. I have been researching since last spring semester when I took physio and micro.

I still have a bunch of stuff to get in order to get ready to even apply. I just applied to PCC today. I thought you had to apply to the school first, according to the admissions people. The nursing program (after I applied) then told me that I didn't have to apply to the school until AFTER I was accepted to the program. If any lesson learned at this point is that CC or CSU, the Admissions people are generally always clueless to what goes on in the nursing programs! Very annoying, if you have questions always contact the department or if you can, the director of nursing. You actually get useful CORRECT information as well as some decent manners :)

Also you might want to look into CSUSB. My cousin graduated with her BSN, RN there and shes been a post partum nurse for over 10 years. She really liked the school.

I am applying there as well. I am actually attending CSUSB info session Aug 18th at 3 pm with a friend of mine to get more info from their program. That school is the only Cal State that has the most lack of info ever! Hopefully I will be better filled in after the info session. If you can't make it, they have a bunch til the end of the year, just look on their website. I will also take really good notes too and post them on here :DAlso CSUSB seems to be the last Cal State that hands out their acceptances/denial letters around mid summer for Fall enterance. Very interesting, I think a lot of people would not wait and would probably take an acceptance to another school since CSUSB takes the longest time to get back to you. Also there aren't many threads about the school and some people with great grades didn't make it in and some people with ok grades did get in. I don't know how much trust you can put on this website but some info is better than none.

Thank you! That's really great info. I really wanted to go to CSUSB because I live closer there, but since they require ochem, I don't think I could apply there yet. Same with CSUF. CSULA is the only Cal State I could apply to for now. So you RCC is better than PCC?
