Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

It depends on the class in orientation they told us that "flexibility is a must in this program" This Saturday was our first clinical in a real hospital setting the rest *for this class* are in simulated labs twice a week. The days depend on what you were given..again flexibility. Some classes don't even have clinicals (like Pharm) So total *again for this class* is theory 2x a week, and lab 2x a week. Everything is in a month to month basis. We just got told we had saturday clinicals on Tuesday, some people had to call in sick to make it. Flexibility. BTW when we say prepare for 6 hrs a night in homework, we are NOT exagerating. Yesterday on my day 'off' form class, lab, or clinicals, I put in OVER 10 hrs. no I am not exagerating. Well worth it though, and so far (I am only a week in, I am pretty confident this oprogram is everything I hoped it would be!)

Okay I know I am writing a lot, but if you want to study before you begin the program...bone up on your Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology, you WILL need it! Good Luck, have to go...:nurse:

Wow, thanks so much for writing! What happens if you dont do well in a class? Do you have a second chance or are you kicked out?

I think they try to give you another chance by placing you in the next available cohort... Don't start the program with this attitude: anything is possible if you put your mind to it and sacrifice a lot. It all depends on how badly you want this. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way to make it work.

cool thanks. Yeah it just crossed my mind. I cant wait to start the program! It feels like its so far away!!! Did you guys already get your uniforms?

Yes they made us go pick them up to ensure that we had them for the first night of labs. They are serious about those uniforms, *warning* those uniforms DO make you run the risk of being confused with a giant blueberry or smurf!:gtch:

hey diana, i think i went through every document on nu-fast but i cannot find the patient health assesment example paper. i think when i say "paper" everyone thinks i mean the scholarly paper because they all tell me it is on nu-fast. is it there and i am just not finding it? if it is only something your professor gave you could i possibly get a copy??? THANKS!

Hello ladies,

I came across your discussion forum today, trying to get an idea as to what I am getting myself into. I just submitted my application and I am scheduled to take the TEAS test and write a proctored essay this Saturday (not sure if you guys had to go through the same process since this is a fairly new process NU has) IF I get in I probably won't start until Jan 2010 but I kind of wanted to know what's in store for me.

You guys probably scared me away from the first class already ... lol ... seems like lots of work and no time to breathe :uhoh3: ?!?!

I really wanted to see how you guys are doing with having children and going through school. I don't have any kids now but I was planning on having one soon... what do you guys think?? Possible?

Keep up the good insides... even though they scare me, it's good to know...

Wish u guys all the best!

Bubbles2610: my opinion only - wait on the kids! I have a 3 year old and it's not easy, not to mention expensive. I could go on and on but the bottom line is: the school is already difficult, so why complicate it? Keep in mind that you kid will probably won't get the attention she/he deserves while you are in school... That's all I gotta say about that.

Danielle: sure thing, girl! I will give you a copy of mine tomorrow after class, OK? I don't think it's on NU Fast, only our professor gave us a sample, as far as I know...

Yea... that's true. I've thought about this a lot but I always find myself thinking how I've been waiting so long to have a child... and now I am supposed to wait another 3 or 4 years? ... It's a tough one for me... but thanks for the advice...

Bubbles2610: the program we are in is only about 2 years long.... unless you count all the pre-nursing course work... :) But do what your heart is telling... Not for a second do I regret having my son, but the reality is - it's not easy... but of course, not impossible! :) Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

Im counting in my waiting time and after I finsih the core nursing classes I have to finish my bachelor's ... but yea I just have to follow my heart on this one. Thanks for taking the time to respond! ... Wish u all the luck as well...:)

heheh okay! By the way how much is each course. The financial aid people couldnt answer my question correctly? Does anyone here know what each month comes out to?
