As a CNA without experience in LA, I found that SNF/LTC were hiring around 10$/hour. The hospital I was just hired at is giving me 11.55$, before night shift differential ($1.25/hour), and of course working 12's you get time and a half for every hour worked over 8 hours.

So averaged out completely, I'm making around $14 per hour. [bouncing from 12.88$ first 8 hours, then the last 4 I get paid something like $19.]

Do a lot of LTC not have websites?

I am trying to apply to as many LTC/nursing homes etc... in my area (since the hospital I have applied to obviously don't want to hire me)

This is only for the summer because I am getting a 2nd/3rd job in fall tutoring...

Anyone know like a website that lists all these places. I think they are so small you would have to call or walk-in to see if they are hiring

thanks!

I'm in LA at an acute care facility, as a Nurse Tech (student nurse) I make $17/hr for night shift. Day shift is $15/hr, and evening is $16/hr. CNAs make the same.

EDIT- just noticed how old this thread is =)

Does anyone have any info on the nursing agencies out there? Like which are the best ones? Most pay? Most hours? Best Rep?

I read that if you work over 8 hours your pay rate changes...is that how it is everywhere or just for some agencies?

I'm in Wisconsin but moving so to southern California in just a few weeks and I just want to try and get a little more insite into how things work out there. I can tell you our pay rate only changes when you go over 40 hours in a week...lol

Can you tell me which acute care facility this is? I plan on moving to LA soon and would like to find a job since I will be leaving the hospital where I currently work at. Thanks! :D
