Grossmont College Cohort Spring 2018

U.S.A. California

Hello everybody! I wanted to start a thread on this upcoming application season for Grossmont.

I am ranging 80-82 points ( depending on those life experiences points). This will be my first time applying here. Reading all these forums and seeing that people can take more than one try to get in makes me anxious! Lol

Good luck to everyone! :)

Hi, it's my first time applying also. I am ranging between 82-86 points. For what I've heard and read 80 points and up has very high "approval" odds. My sister got accepted with 74 points but I've been reading on other threads that some people don't get in having higher than that so it's very confusing and definitely makes me anxious too :nailbiting: ut good luck to us who are applying for the spring.. good vibes only :woot:

I'm planning on applying next week after I take my teas test on Monday! I've been studying so hard for it but i'm still so stressed about it. I don't have that high of hopes getting in for this cohort considering I'll only have 70-76 points depending how I score on the teas. I won't have my degree until I take my online stats class that finishes in October & I am planning on taking a CNA class later this year if I don't get accepted this time around. So long story short, me lacking those 10 points is hurting me (I also have 2 semesters of Spanish, so one more and I'll have another 3 points). I have over 100 hours volunteering at sharp & I also work at a fertility center so I plan on receiving those 5 extra points. I feel I'll have a better chance next semester when applying but it doesn't hurt to apply anyways right?? Maybe only a few will apply, but now it's just a waiting game!!

I'm sure you two will get in! 80+ points is really good. This girl I volunteer with got accepted for the Fall 2017 cohort with only 75 points!

Good luck to all (:

I was so nervous with my teas exam. Signing in, I messed up on my phone number xD I'm glad I got that over with. Now it's just hearing back lol.

It doesn't hurt to try, good luck!

How was the teas for you?? I've heard mixed things about it being easier than the actual ATI practice tests (which I hope). I've been scoring in the 70s on the practice tests so I hope I do better on the real thing!

For me it was VERY similar to the online pratice tests and the ones on the book/guide. Good luck

My practice test version A was fairly easy. Version B was so hard! The actual test was like a happy medium of both. I bought the smartprep bundle. Math and Science were easier than the smart prep bundle and English and Reading were about the same.

Ahh that's so good to hear. I took practice test A before studying anything about two months ago and I got 75% on it. I retook it about a month later and received 84%. Then I took practice b a few days ago and WOW!! It was really hard! I ended up getting 78% on it.

When I turned in my application I asked when we should hear back and she said until late September. 2 months waiting T_T

Hi! I'm applying as well! I'm turning in my application on Monday (cutting it close, I know 😬)

I should have 85-88 points ... depends on whether they accept some of my life points etc.

im worried about my TB test and Hep B however ...

i have one skin test back in sept and I recently did blood TB test ... not sure if this is what they wanted.

for the Hep B I am positive for immunity so my doctor refused to give me the vaccine. Her nurse filled out the paper stating I'm immuned however im also confused on what exactly are they wanting ....

I have read different things saying what I am providing is sufficient and I have read other papers saying I need 2 skin test and the 3 step hep B vaccine ...

did anyone else provide what I provided ? Do you think my application will be sufficient ? Thank you !!

Hello:

I did the blood test for the tb test & turned in my application last week and everything was fine.

As far as the hep b vaccines- I called a few weeks ago because I was confused and she said that you MUST have the three rounds of hep b vaccines. She said that to apply you don't have to have the immunity test (but if you get accepted you have to provide it). But, she said you have to have the three hep b shots no matter what because even if you're immune, without the shots your immunity can slowly decline over time (this is what the lady on the phone said). The shots take 6 months to complete as well.

Bummer :(

I tuned in my application today and she said the titer I turned it for hep B was fine.

Should I try to convince my Dr. To give me the hep B booster vaccine ???

I'm so confused on what they exactly want. When I turned in my application she said everything was fine and she saw that I only have the titer for hep B not the 3 vaccines ....
