U.S.A. California

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied to the City of Hope New Graduate program? I applied a few days ago and will post on here if I hear anything. Best of luck to those that applied!

I applied on 8/8 and until today my status had read:
Now it still says "on file" and Last updated: 8/13/13 4:05 PM - I am guessing that I am no longer in consideration since my app was finally looked at and the status didn't change. I will keep my fingers crossed!!

Good luck to everyone!! xo

Did anyone have an internship/preceptorship in oncology? I wonder how strictly they adhere to their statement of giving preference to those with oncology experience.

My ADN preceptorship was a tele/onco unit at Kaiser

My friend did not - I'm checking forum for her too

Someone in last cycle said they don't hire ADNs cuz of Magnus status

I had applied to the June cohort and didn't get in so I called to find out why. During our conversation, the nurse recruiter told me that they only take people who have some sort of experience in oncology. Definitely only people who had their final preceptorship in oncology. She made that point clear.

I went back to school immediately and earned my BSN. Although, I did have some of the Onco experience they are looking for - it wasn't strictly Onco, nor was it my most recent/BSN preceptorship.

Really? I read on the old thread that people interviewed without once experience...

Me and my friend only had once patients during our critical care rotations....

I applied for the June cohort, but did not get accepted. So trying again this time around! It does worry me that others statuses are changing, but I'm not sure If mine changed before. I'm pretty sure mine stayed "on file." Then in the later stages switched to "in process" then "not selected." I know someone who got hired and their status remained "on file" the whole time. I think it's all up in the air.

I agree.. I try to not rely heavily on "application status" things since moving out here to California. Sometimes they'll update your status, sometimes they won't! It just depends I guess.

Johnny, I'm just going by what the nursing recruiter told me. When I spoke with her regarding the June cohort, she said it took them awhile to get through the applications because there were so many people who applied who never had onc experience and they had to get weeded out.

Regarding people getting interviewed without onc experience--I'm not sure what to say about that other than she must have been lying to me? I don't know.
