CONGRATS Candleguy on passing NCLEX!!!

And congrats to those who got the offer so far! I hope they're still offering!

I did a lot of work looking at places, and although I have already found my apartment (it's one of those big apt companies, not privately owned), I have a few links that you can consider to look at. I thought I'd share with you what I've found since I've been laborously looking for apts 3 days strait in LA. I'm starting on the 20th, and finishing my summer session so this bites! These are places close to cedars:

This would have probably been the first runner up:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/1246999161.html

it has 2 parking spaces (1 garage!) and a nice kitchen, haven't been here actually but it seems promising. I know the guy hasn't sold it yet as of today!

There are other places that I looked at, but am not sure if you'd be interested. You can pm me if you want me to tell you.

But I think you can find those on craigslist.

BEST ADVICE is to type in area code 90048 and 90036 for a place close to cedars. I also found a place in 90019...but you have to be careful with that area code because some places are gheettto!!! PM me if you want some more info!

Goodluck! Hope this helps!

Hello,

I am not sure how many people are still waiting like me.

I called them this morning, and the lady said that they are still calling and haven't made any final list yet. She asked me to wait until next Friday. I requested to talk to the nursing recruiter, but she rejected. I am really wondering what their decision making process is. GPA? Degree? Interview skills? Combined all of them? I think we deserve learning more information instead of simple response such as " You will get a call if you are selected, or you will get a letter if you are not." we applied long time ago, flew to L.A. to have an interview, spent almost one month just waiting....

Is there still any hope? Nobody knows. Anybody has any good tips to just let it go?

I too am still waiting! Due to the fact that some bloggers have said that new grads from the last program are being placed, I am hoping as more are placed, med/surg spots will be available for us. I agree that this wait has been very stressful! I hope there is still some luck out there for us..

RNsofy,

Hi, congratulations on your acceptance. I did receive my packet; it came on June 29th. In it contains the prescription for the urine drug screen that we must complete at a Quest Diagnostics location, a general breakdown of the topics to be covered during the week of classroom orientation, as well as Pharmacology and IV study guides. Also, my start date is July 20, 2009. I hope that helps.

For those that are still waiting, hopefully it is because they are still deciding. Good luck!

Congrats rnsofy,

I also received the same stuff as flywithme2nyte in my packet & will also be starting on the 20th. If you haven't gotten your packet by now maybe u should give your recruiter a call.

I hope this is true, but I'm kind of losing hope at this point. The only reason I think this could be true is that I would assume the recruiter would tell the secretaries as soon as they were done making the offers so that people will stop calling and bothering them asking about it. 1 more week....2 more weeks, who knows. Fingers are still crossed though.

Specializes in acute care then Home health.

I heard today that MOST of the lucky new grads who got hired have been notified , however there may be a few openings once they sort out where everyone is going. I also heard that Cedars, UCLA, and Kaiser will not be hiring anymore new grads for quite awhile and there is no longer a nursing shortage in CA. Good luck to all new grads who still need to find jobs. Congrats to those of you guys who got in.

That all sounds just about right! Haha. Definitely doesn't seem like there's a shortage in CA with all the people who can't find jobs. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear all that info?

Did anyone call HR today about that 1 week/2 week/last day wait? I'm kinda tired of calling at this point lol. I agree though that they need to give more info than "you're gonna get a call if selected and a letter if not". Don't you think it would also be nice if they could give us a specific time frame on the wait? cuz Monday being the last day is a BIG difference from waiting til next Friday. I'm scheduled to take the NCLEX this week but I was kinda thinking of rescheduling. If this week is really the last week that they're making offers, then maybe I could reschedule cuz studying is kinda driving me crazy and I jus wanna enjoy my summer for now. Not like any hospitals in cali would be hiring new grads soon rite? =p

honestly you should just keep your date and get it over with...IMO i would not be having a good summer right now if the NCLEX was still on my back!! plus theyll actually let you talk to the recruiter to update your app re: license status when you find out you passed...and i'm sure other places will give you a 1up if you apply as an RN...good luck on ur Exam!
