Anyone planning on applying to the Spring 2011, CSUSM, accelerated ABSN program? Just wondering if there is anyone else out there:)

yes, me! good luck :)

I am as well. I need more information about the program though. I have a few more classes to take (2 to be exact). I will have them completed by the end of Fall 2010, but I don't know if that is enough time. Can you apply with courses still In Progress? Does anyone know?

Does anyone know anyone already in the program?

As far as I know you can apply with classes still in progress and they will accept you as conditional. What classes do you still need to take?

Micro and O-Chem. Does CSSM require O-Chem? I feel that each school's pre-reqs are a little off. ANyone out there know if anyone has enjoyed/likes/recommends the CSSM program? I am interested to hear people's thoughts once they are in the program.

I would like to know someone's comments in the program too. As far as O-Chem, yes, they do require it. I am taking it right now at Palomar college, Chem 104. What other schools are you going to apply too?

I am planning on applying for this cohort, too. I went to an information session last year, and have been working since to get everything in order. The advisors there are great; I know mine has been a tremendous help.

I am keeping an eye on the Entry Level Master's programs at both CSU Fullerton and Long Beach if I do not get accepted for January 2011 ABSN at San Marcos. However, with the two latter programs starting 9 months later than San Marcos, and being ~12 months longer, albeit for a Masters, SM is my 1st choice.

Did you look at Azusa- 15 months and SDSU- 12 months and National-22 months. I am planning to apply to those too. They are BSN, not Masters. I looked at the Masters at LB and CSF, but they are not Entry level for Nurse Practitioner, which is what I would want to get my masters in. CSUSM is my 1st choice too since i am in Temecula and hoping to get the cohort there. The advisors are super great at CSUSM, i have been working with them for over a year too. Are you already done with all your pre-nursing classes? I know a lot of the sciences have been hard to get.

I am applying for Spring 2011 at CSUSM. I attended the Info session just yday. My advisor was great. They do require an intergrated Chemsitry, that has both Organic and Biochem element. Also 'infrential Statistics ' course.

But they do consider IP courses. They have a point system going there. So an applicant needs minimum 33 points to get in.

I called Azusa. They are booked till 2012 for the accelerated program. Wow, competitive !

I'll have to take a look at the SDSU ABSN for sure. As far as my pre-req's, I have been back at junior college since fall of last year, so have all but the "Core" classes done (even with the B.A. as well, I still had to knock out the pysch courses and go back for some math refreshers prior to stats). Anatomy and Biochem are IP this semester, with micro and stats in the summer, and physio in the fall. GPA in my previous B.A. was 3.0 overall, but grades since I have been back in school have been 4.0 (fingers crossed it stays that way :p ).

Just took the TEAS today at CSUSM - 90%, so kind of on the fence whether to re-take.

Thanks for the tip on SDSU. BTW, I have yet to attend an info session at either CSU LB or Fullerton; what "flavor" of Masters is awarded upon completion of the ELM program? Also, do students there pick up a BSN and MSN, or just the MSN?

90% on the TEAS is really good. I do not think you need to re-take it. I got an 84%. SDSU is new with Summer 2010 as their first cohort. I think it is really easy to get into their program, it is just way down in San Diego. Where do you live? You should have no problem getting into the programs with your grades and TEAS.

I did not attend sessions for CSF or CSULB. But there were a couple other ELM at USD and Cal Baptist in Riverside. I believe all were BSN and MSN with the MSN in Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist. So, if you wanted the NP for long term you would have to go back for another year or so to be able to sit for the exam as a registered NP.

Kurt W and Goodthoughts, what advisors do you both have? Do you have their contact information? I was unable to make this last information session at CSSM but I am hoping to catch the next one.

I applied to Azusa and I am going to apply to SDSU. National doesn't have the best NCLEX passing rates, so I am thinking twice about them. I wish there were more options for Second Degree nursing programs. What type or nursing does everyone want to do?
