CA RN license via endorsement

U.S.A. California

Has anyone applied for a CA rn license via endorsement?? and if you so about how long did it take for your license to get approved? Also has anyone had the temp. license and if so who will take those? Some hospitals wont approve of them

Just sent up my application (endorsing from Hawaii). We'll see how it goes. But it took me 3-4 weeks to receive my fingerprint cards from CA BRN

any idea how much is the verification fee of license in CA BON?

thanks,,

if your endorsing (or you already have a license from a different state and are now applying for CA's) its $100 but 50 extra if you want the temporary too. The fingerprints fees vary whether you get the fingerprint card (which is cheaper, but takes longer to process) or you livescan for fingerprinting and also the way you choose to get your out of state RN license verifyed. So currently with everything mine has cost me about $200.

thanks

The process of getting my California license via endorsement took approximately 7 weeks. I mailed my application, paperwork, and fees to the California BRN on June 10th of last year and was issued a permanent license number on July 28th.

So I'm in the UK but licensed in Illinois (long story). I'm applying for endorsement. I already sent the paperwork in to IL for endorsement, but was going to bring the rest of the paperwork in to Sacramento to do it in person because I thought it might be faster. However, I won't have my fingerprints done til the first week of June when I get to LA. Will they just hold my file until then?

I can't seem to find the answer to that burning question...frustrating to try to get things done from so far away...

@Cmatt....did you get your BSN from the UK? If so, make sure that you meet all of the CA BON requirements. CA doesn't care where you got your USA licenses from, but they will ask for your college transcripts. It must meet certain concurrency courses and meet the minimum hours in certain courses. There are tons of foreign students from most of the globe now that are unable to get into CA due to CA BON's strict enforcement of several written policies that's been there for over 10 years plus. Check out the "World" section here.

This hold true for any nurse with many years of experience. CA BON's main foundation is educational basis.

Also, do you have a valid SSN? It's now a requirement to be licensed in CA. I think you can have a green card, but not 100% sure of that.

Going to Sacramento directly may not make much difference since they are so back-logged now. They need time to review your records. You can try if time allows. Good luck!

No no no...sorry for being unclear, I'm from the states--licensed in Illinois. I live here with my partner and we're moving to California. I have my BSN, my SSN, my RN etc etc. I'm really just wondering about timing of my prints relative to my application packet.

As an interesting/annoying aside, I was unable to work here--I just this month finished my BSN completion courses and the UK doesn't recognize an associates degree!

Also, I'm wondering on my application if I need to send in both my BSN qualifications as well as my ADN information--there's only room for one on the form. I'm assuming they want the information from where I got my RN initially. It's all so confusing.

Okay, got it...you're a US citizen, just living in the UK with the IL license, cool.

I would always call and e-mail the CA BON directly with your questions. Calling them....good luck if you can get thru, lol, same with leaving a message, it's always a hit-and-a-miss.

E-mail might help out too.

Is there some sort of fingerprinting business there in the UK? Maybe like at some kind of governmental agency or the police station there? Good luck!

Yeah...no on the fingerprinting front, which I find kind of irritating since I had to have my prints run through the DOJ and Interpol to get my spouse visa to live here to begin with!! They're pretty useless here.

I've emailed the California BON, though. I'm sure I'll have about as much luck with them as I am having via the state of Illinois (ugh).

All I wanted was to cut my wait time down a bit so I can start applying when I get out there!
