Anyone applying at Saddleback college?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi I was just wondering if anyone is applying to saddleback college for spring 07. We can share our thoughts and make the waiting a little more pleasant. In my case is going to be the longest of my life !!!!

Do you know someone allready accepted in the program or how many people actually get in with A's and also B's ? Or they really just accept straight A's?

Wow !! I am soooo sorry :( I just can't believe you could have a 4.0 and not get in! and no, I have no idea what qualifications would determine which 4.0 students they accept -but I would think it may have something to do with more g.e. classes ? don't think it has to do with being a current student, because I am not a current student at Saddleback ... so sorry, but hang in there ... with a 4.0 it won't be long ...

Thanks for your reply...

I even have a bachelor's degree! This is really discouraging...the only thing I can think of that would put me behind other "18-pointers" is that I have not taken speech, gerontology, or pharmacology.

Those of you who got accepted...did you complete those classes prior to applying?

Thanks!

TCOHRS, they look at classes that you have taken: speech, pharmacology, psychology, ect...

I have all but pharmacology ...

well I guess if I wanna be a nurse didn't get in with 18 pts... I am pretty much not going to get in. The only hope is that I get in through the lottery which is a long shot. Either way I still haven't gotten a letter I will let you guys know when I do... Good luck to everyone that made it... Congrats!!!

that was SERIOUSLY competitive!

Congratulations to those who have gotten accepted!! (And to those who are still waiting, it sucks, I know - I've been there!!)

If I can put in my :twocents:... (I'm finishing up my 2nd semester at Saddleback...)

Try to sign up for Pharmacology & Gero right away - try to take both over the summer. It will suck, I know. But, I am *SO* glad that I didn't have to worry about taking them along with starting 1st semester.

Call the nursing office & make sure that the Pharm & Gero that you plan to take will transfer. I've heard rumors that you will only be able to take them at Saddleback for them to count...

Don't worry if you didn't get in off grades...I am proud to say that I got in off the lottery! (And I am hanging in there with my classmates who had 4.0 GPAs)

Feel free to message me with any specific questions. I am a student mentor & I love to chat & help out in any way that I can.

So I stalked the mail man again today... I think he is really scared of me!!! :) But still no letter. Has anyone else still not received their letters? I am hoping that they mailed out all the letters at the same time. Because it seems that everyone on this post either got in or is an alternate. I am hoping that they didn't send the rejection letters out at a later date. Anyway, after a few myocardial infarctions I am still waiting... Boy I hope it comes tomorrow if I have to wait till Monday it is going to be a really stressful weekend. Did anyone get accepted who didn't have 18 pts?

I still haven't received anything. But CONGRATS to all that made it into the program for fall. If anyone out there made it in with less than 18 pts please let us know.

i have not gotten my letter either......i have 17 points but it seems like they even rejected people with 18...oh god....let me know when u guys get your letters..

Same here, I have 16 points and have not received a letter as of today yet. I'm guessing that there were over 45 people that had 18 points. Don't give up hope yet guys, there is still a slim chance that we might get in with the lottery. AAnderson - how do you like the program so far? Is it super hard or doable? Thank you for all the helpful post, we all appreciate it very much. Please everyone out there that got accepted with anything less than 18 points let the rest of us know. Good luck and congrats!

Sherbear:

I'm not going to lie. The program is HARD - but at the same time, it's doable. 2nd semester was a rude awakening from 1st semester. There is a LOT of hand holding 1st semester and 2nd semester - I kind of felt like we were fed to the sharks. This semester is definitely survival of the fittest.

Oh I forgot, one thing at a time. :)

Get into the program...if you didn't get in. Don't worry, try again! (And take gero/pharm/speech in the meantime.) I first tried getting in back in 2005...long story short (and a Bachelor's degree later...) I'm back at Saddleback and almost halfway through the program.

Apparently, Saddleback was just ranked #1 in the country (even ranking above Duke & Yale) for NCLEX passing rates. Keep trying, it's worth it!!
