Does anyone know the reasoning behind California nursing students not being allowed to pay to receive unofficial results from Pearson Vue? Especially with the loooooong waiting time it seems it would be a merciful step for the boards of nursing here to allow us an inkling of where we stand.
I don't want to sit here and continue studying for the NCLEX after I've taken it if I don't have to. My test was today and stopped at 85. It took me a couple of months to get the authorization to test, and another few weeks to arrange for the date, and now I have to wait another couple of months for the results?

Ca will allow you to sit NCLEX without a complete file and will not release results until the file is complete. Unless they change their system and stop people sitting exam until complete files then there will be no changes to the system
Thanks Silver.........

I appreciate your quick response and understand that they should wait until a file is complete..... But why does it take so long to complete it? My school mailed in our files on July 14th. It took a couple of months to get the test date. Do other states have the same waiting period?
According to other posters from other forum threads, it will take me another one to two months to get my results. It doesn't take other states that long, does it? If California takes so long, why would it not be permissable to allow us to get unofficial results from Pearson. It would certainly ease a lot of graduate minds as to whether they should continue to plug away at studying NCLEX material or make other plans for their time.
Understand I am not jumping you, you answered my question and I am grateful for that. I just would like to understand why my state is slow, or if indeed they are. I may be basing these assumptions on misinformation.
Again, thanks for your time!
Most states will not allow you to sit the exam without a complete file and this includes results from fingerprints. Sometimes delays with Ca may just be a incomplete file and when people have rung up (after 2 weeks) they find something wrong with fingerprints or although school sent transcripts theirs was missed and had to be sent again. Usually people will get their results within 4 weeks unless the person lives overseas as they have no option but wait for mail as Ca will not issue a license without a SSN

I'm CA too. Within three days of taking the test, I was listed on the website as licensed. That is how I found out I passed.
You can try checking that if your application is complete.

Thanks Salamandrina, but thats only for RN's. LVN's don't have that option unfortunately:(
Just would like to know why..........

Sorry, but this is not the case of the LVNs. They are actually handled out of a separate office as far as licenses and not by the BRN.
They also do not pay for licenses until they pass the NCLEX exam, unlike the other states.

There are actually only 27 states that use the Quick Results, just a tad over half. It is far from being most of them.
Each state is free to set their own requirements for whatever reason and CA is also the largest state in the US as well. For those that do not pass the exam, this is a good thing so that they are not spending the extra money for the license each and every time that they write the exam.
Much has already been written here on the specific concerning this, please just do a search for the other threads.
