California licensure endorsement verification

Published

Hey guys! I'm an ICU RN practicing in PA the past 3 years. I'm commuting myself to travel nursing, just waiting on my licensure approval from California. From what I understand , the CA BON is very backed up. My check was cashed May 15th, and I have been told to expect to wait 8-12 weeks from that point. I am 10 weeks out , and contacted the board today. They tolde it could be an additional 6 weeks. When I asked if they could see if they could see if my application was complete they said they were unable to access that information. Has anyone had the same issues this summer or can offer a timeline they experienced? I would greatly appreciated it as

i looking to move out there in September to start work.

I had the same issue with this. I sent a money order so I had no way of knowing when they recieved it. It takes an act of God to get through to talk to a real person. Every time I would call I would get a different story. One lady told me I should have had them a month ago and she would personally walk the profile to someone who could make this happen. Two weeks later I call back and someone told me they had no documents and were waiting for background to come through. At that point I asked to speak to a person in charge and left a voicemail. I gave up at that point. 2 weeks later they sent it out to me. Then I did not get my wallet card and moved so it was sent back to CA and "destroyed" after a few months. I had to pay an additional fee to get a duplicate. Goodluck. I will NOT let these expire. Total time was almost 6 months.

Good luck when you're trying to verify your California license to another state's board of nursing. They don't participate in Nursys and use paper verification forms. Took 3 months for another state to receive my verification. Ridiculous!

Both my boyfriend and I are originally PA RN's as well. California cashed our checks on the same day, 3/23/15. My boyfriend used PA's new electronic verification to send to California. I used my current Oregon license on Nursys instead of the PA to see if it would make a difference. He received his permanent license and I received only a temporary at the beginning of May. We have friends from PA as well and they told us that I would have to send in PA because it was the original state of licensure (have not verified this because no one answers my calls to California, nor my MULTIPLE e-mails). So I recent PA electronic verification on 6/10/15 to California, and sent more e-mails, and I'm still only issued a temporary license as of today. However, my boyfriend has an ADN and I have a diploma RN, so I'm a little curious to see if this has something to do with it, hopefully not. It takes time, yes, but just get on the Breeze website and watch your status. There's another thread on here titled "Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA", check out that forum- LOTS of good info and probably some people with the same timeline as you. Good luck!![h=1][/h]

I applied for my CA license in August 2014. I got my temporary license in December 2014. My permanent license came in April 2015 but only after I called and harassed them about it.

It took me 5 months. They lost my school transcripts multiple times. Always a different story when I called. It's ridiculous. Luckily I didn't need that license right away.

I have heard plenty a horror story on the wait for getting your license from California. I did a contract in Arizona and while there I went to California and had the live scan done. I had sent all other information before doing that. Got my license in 3 months. You can go online and look at the status of your application with them and it will say if there is anything missing or if it is processing. Just as an FYI, I requested the fingerprint cards in February, before I took my assignment in Arizona and decided to do the live scan, and I received them in June when I returned to my home state...... Hope you receive it soon!
