Hello all,
I'm confused about how to obtain furnishing license in CA. I am moving from Hawaii & have prescriptive authority here. I know the laws changed this year so the 6 months d supervision is no longer required. However, the application states that I need to submit evidence of prescribing for at least 5 years. I've only been prescribing for 1 year. What do I do? I know I have to do the pharmacology requirement, but what do I do about this 5 year minimum thing? I have DEA for my current practice site as well. Has anyone from out of state with less than 5 years experience been through this process this year?
Thanks MC

I'm assuming you are referring to this CA BRN Form: http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/npf-app.pdf
My interpretation of the instructions on that form tells me that given your situation, you only need to send the completed application form, a check in the amount of $50.00, and a completed Advanced Pharmacology Course Verification signed and dated by the designated faculty representative from the NP program you attended.
The subsequent instructions only apply to NP applicants who have practiced out of state for over 5 years. Since you only have 1 year of NP experience, those instructions do not apply to you.
Be aware that although you have a DEA License in Hawaii, you should apply for a separate DEA License in California. A change of address applies only if you are moving within your state of jurisdiction.
