Hi all, I'm a brand new CNA (passed the exam May 18!) and I had a couple questions regarding CEUs in California. I can't seem to find many specific answers on the CDPH website.
1. I think I read somewhere that college classes count for CEUs. I'm going to be a nursing student in the fall at SJSU's BSN program, would any nursing class count as a CEU or is there a list of classes somewhere I can look at? How would you submit these?
2. Would a BLS cert class (in person, no online) count as a CEU? Again, how would you go about recording/submitting it as one?
I've only relied on the CDPH website for research, if anyone has better resources for California CNA info it'd be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

College courses count if they're specifically for a nursing program. You can get credit for a total of 15 hrs of CEUs per year from college courses. Speak to your program director, usually the school inquires if you have any certifications of licenses that need to be maintained so the proper paperwork can be filled out and submitted to the CDPH.
A BLS certification does not count unfortunately.

Some college classes count. I'm currently a CNA and when I turned in my paper work for CEUs, my nursing classes did count. Some college classes outside the program will count too. I'm not sure which ones but I remember that a self improvement class like yoga does not count.
You should find out if your job offers CEUs, mine does and its free for employees.
