Hello! Glad I found this place. I am a current student in the RRT field. Wife is a LVN "LPN".
We have a few questions?
1. In Virgina, will wife's LVN license transfer from California or what does she need to do (test again)?
2. After I complete school, she wants to go back for her RN. I see Virgina has a bridge program like California? Any details would be great.
3. Were looking in Abingdon. Looks really nice. But, how are the jobs? Is there better areas a VA with better paying jobs?
4. What is the pay scale for a LVN? Wife has 1.5yrs as a LVN and is IV certified. Before that she was a CNA for 5yrs.
5. What is the pay scale for a RRT?
Thanks in advance!
I found this payscale not sure how accurate it is. Also not sure what the "step" means?

Your wife will need to endorse her California license into the state of Virginia, so that she can receive a Virginia LPN license by endorsement. She'll need to contact the Virginia BON (board of nursing) for the steps they require to endorse her California license into their state. She will not need to retest. Once you've taken the test (NCLEX) and passed, you'll never need to retake it.
Great! What is the fee for that? How long does that take?

Everything should be on here http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/nursing_forms.htm
Ummmm I had saw that above the thread. I didn't see all the questions asked :-)
But, it looks like $30 and no time frame. Can someone else confirm this that knows?
Looking at the link I posted it is $30 to nursey to verify your wife's licence and $130 for endorsement application. Contacting BON may give you an idea on how long it will take to endorse. Each state is different but generally I believe most do not take too long
Thanks! That gives me an idea.
You are welcome
Can someone else answer my other questions I see 7 viewing!

Sorry, not sure about Abingdon as I work in Northern VA. Northern VA is nice but EXPENSIVE. Think San Francisco expensive.
I do know that CNA endorsements take about 2 months so I would imagine the nurses are comparable.
There are RN-LPN bridge courses in VA. Check with the local Community Colleges.
No idea on your other questions.

I am an RN with a license from CA and VA. It wasn't too terribly difficult to get a VA license. You have to send in forms to the state of VA and CA. CA fills out the paperwork and sends it to VA. I want to say it probably took me about 6-8 weeks to get my VA license. VA will send out an interim permit, until your license gets processed.
Don't know anything about Abingdon. We live in northern VA as well and have only been here for a few months.
Best of luck to you. :)
