CA Governor scuttles nurse ratio plan

months after nurses at san joaquin general hospital thought they had a plan in place to deal with patient-to-nurses ratio, gov. arnold schwarzenegger has scuttled that plan.

the plan, which county supervisors will vote on today under a memorandum of understanding with nurses, calls for implementation of ab394. under ab394, all hospitals must meet a nurse-to-patient ratio plan for different departments, including a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio in the emergency room and medical/surgical units.
