I am basically in search of some advice and pep talks. I started this semester learning that I am pregnant. I am in the last semester of my BSN program. I have found it very difficult to stay on top of my studying because the fatigue has just been so overwhelming. I just scored a 62% on my med-surge exam and we only have three more exams to go. I am required to have a 75% testing average and pulling myself out of this hole just seems next to impossible right now. I can't tell if it is my hormones, if I am just burnt out, or if this is a sign that I should wait and start fresh next semester (I will still be pregnant, not due until April). It is affecting my mental health and my relationship with my husband. I cry all of the time and dread my life whenever I wake up every morning.
Should I attempt to power through and try to dig myself out of this hole? I generally get A's and B's in med-surge. This is the first time I have ever failed an exam. I am thinking about finishing my other two classes and then re-doing med-surge next semester when it is the only class I would have to focus on. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever been in this situation? Came back from a 62% with three exams?

A friend of mine came back from a 52% last semester. She studied her face off and pulled through. Also, our minimum is 80%. So you can definitely do it, but you're going to have to pull it all together for a few months and make it happen. I'd go see the counselor at your school too.

Crying all the time isn't normal. See your physician for some help with this. You won't be able to make a good decision in this state of mind.

If you've thought of a way to break it down, lighten the load and still get through without too much delay, it might be the way to go. But I second seeing your doctor. Not to find a way to power through nursing school, but to make sure you don't have anything untoward going on.
Then talk to your school advisor and find a way to navigate this. Good luck! And congratulations!
