BSN to Phd Student looking for Research ideas

I am starting a BSN to PhD nursing program in Fall 2008 and am trying to get ideas for research. Does anyone have any tips on how to get started? I have interests and ideas, but am just not sure how to take them to the next level.

"How to take them to the next level" is what your PhD program should teach you. That's the whole purpose of the coursework you take prior to starting your dissertation. Use your coursework to explore the topic that you have identified as the area you wish to specialize in. As you do the work for each course, your ideas should become further developed -- culminating in the dissertation project.
