hey guys!here's the thing i am a nursing graduate and im going to take my nclex RN by December ....my 1st ques is do i need to call BON and PEARSON about my change address?and is PEARSON going to give me a new ATT?because i haven't yet schedule because i change my address?thanks!!!!
2nd is the main thing hmmmm i am not like a person whose asking for more but if RN is not my destiny is maybe i can be LVN right?but my question is i finished my BS Nursing...but i graduated in a foreign country...here's my ques...em my need to go to school again to LVN?but done with my nursing career?or Just a training and board for LVN?

You need to inform the BON/BRN on change of address

Not sure why you would want to do LVN when you are a RN but be aware that even if you pass PN and RN and work as PN you will be held accountable to the higher one which is RN

Preparing for the PN exam is completely different from the preparation for the RN exam and even more so if you have never worked with any LVNs/LPNs and are aware of their responsibilities, etc.

If you went to school for the RN, then you should focus on working in that role and passing the NCLEX-RN exam.

You would not need to go to school again, but in CA the licenses for the RN and the LVN are handled thru two different boards.

You need to contact the BRN as well as Pearson-Vue; the issue is not the address that is on the ATT, but the actual person's name and other information. That is what they are going to be verifying.

Just to add in, you mentioned being a graduate nurse, have you actually written the NLE? If not and you applied after January, 2008 for licensure, be aware that CA is now requiring the NLE results as well as license before they will grant permission to test. Even if approval is accidentally granted, the file is still reviewed by a human that will be looking for these things. If you are a green card holder, or hold dual citizenship with the Philippines, then you are not exempt from this requirement. Only if you hold only US citizenship are you not required to write the NLE.

I have met many Filipina nurses through the years who have obtained the LVN license and are working in this job category. They do this for various reasons; usually they have attempted the NCLEX-RN and failed, but passed the NCLEX-PN. Some nurses remain LVNs, but most continue to study for and take the RN exam until they pass. That is an advantage that you have. You have two avenues to work. I would not suggest that you take the LVN exam until you have tried the RN exam. You might find jobs that do not seem very different, but the difference in pay, job security, and other advantages certainly exists. Take the RN exam and hold off with the LVN exam unless you need to resort to a Plan B. Best wishes to you as you prepare for the NCLEX.

And whether or not your overseas training is acceptable to sit for the LVN exam will be determined by the LVN Board when you apply. Same holds true for when you apply for the RN license.
