Brown Mackie College ADN and want to be a CRNA

Hey everyone,

My first time here! I just graduated as an LPN today! I am going on to get my RN. I am also currently 6 classes away from my Bachelor in Health Science.

My goal is to one day become a CRNA. I really do not want to wait to get my ADN to sit for boards to get my RN so I was thinking about going to Brown Mackie in Kansas City, KS. I can start right away and be done in 5 months with my ADN.

Then I plan on completing my Bachelor in Health Science at University of West Florida.

Would it be in my best interest to also get my BSN from UWF after finishing at Brown Mackie?

Will CRNA schools look at my ADN from Brown Mackie and frown upon it?

Obviously I will be working for at least 1 year in an ICU after I get my license as an RN, so the plan is, and finish my Bachelor in possibly both BSN and Health Science.

Need some advice if having an ADN from Brown Mackie is a bad choice or should I try and get in somewhere else for my ADN and do that for an extra year?

I don't think schools care about where you got your ADN, but you MUST have your BSN, so your health science BSN won't do you any good other than to say you have two BSNs. Now some schools have a transfer program that if you have a BS in another subject you can fast track your BSN. Get all As, get as high as you can on your GRE, get good ICU experience and apply. Voila!

I know all schools are a little different in req's. Some want 1 yr experience in ICU, some want 2 years. Some are ok with you having an ADN, RN license and a Bachelor in a science related field, or a BSN. I do think that having the BSN is better, but some schools will take either as long as you have a current RN license.

I think I will apply to other schools for my ADN and keep Brown Mackie on the back burner just in case.
