Hey everyone, I'm applying to the nursing program for January 2016 at Broward College. I guess this will be the official thread for the January 2016, Broward college nursing students; since no one has made one yet. Who else is applying for this term and what courses do you have remaining to finish pre reqs? I'm currently enrolled in A&P 2 lecture and lab and also a math class which are the last two courses I need to apply. I finish the classes in August yayyy :)
Good luck :)
Hey and welcome @nenacin !! You basically have all the right questions to ask an advisor but here is some links you can look at and get some answers
Broward College - Health Sciences Admissions (Info on Health Science Admissions)
http://www.broward.edu/admissions/Documents/HSPrerequisites.pdf (Pre-reqs for the nursing program)
Broward College - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) (Questions that the nursing dept answered already)
Good luck and I hope this helps :)
Hey Futurenurse876, you have to take chem1033 it is a pre req for micro. I don't think the other chem you took would be accepted since chem 1033 is chemistry for healthcare and the ones you took are most likely just organic and what not. To be sure speak to an advisor but I'm pretty sure you would still have to take the chem 1033 since its routed for healthcare professionals.
I bought the HESI prep book from the BC bookstore and I also take a whole bunch of online HESI free quizzes that are very helpful. I'm so anxious to get in the program. I will be taking my HESI in August since I finish my A&P 2 - August 8. Then I will submit my application. I'm not sure if they still have the HCP requirement but regardless I'm a Registered Medical Assistant so I wouldn't have to take it. Hopefully that gives me more of an advantage to get accepted quicker, fingers crossed. I'm so excited to start. ðŸ˜

Thank you Diana, I'll be sure to look into talking to an advisor
This is the page for the the requirements some of the subjects don't specify like humanities it doesn't say which ones. There was an old page that said which ones but I can't find it, but I'm sure everyone has theirs already it's basic things like theater, art, ect and we need a Physcology course. What I don't like about the new page is that it doesn't specify but if you don't know just ask an advisor. Also one last thing the CHM 1032 requirement which must be taken before MICRO isn't listed you have to look at the bottom of the page it will say. Anyways here is the link to the page. http://www.broward.edu/academics/programs/Program%20Sheet%20Library/2127.pdf Hope this helps

Hi guys!
It is so nice that I found this site and be able to communicate with everyone who is in the same situation.
I was wondering if you guys can help me out..PLEASE! I am brand new at this whole nursing thing. I want to enroll to either BC or MDC. My goal is to become a Nurse practitioner.
As far as I know I have to get my ADN then BSN then MSN right?
Its been 9 years since I graduated High School so that means starting from scratch.
Now my question is, how to choose the right school? I am located in Doral and driving I don't mind. Well as long as I am not driving over an hour lol!
I also want to speak to an adviser but I am not sure what questions to ask..
So far the questions I have are:
Nursing school deadline
CPR Certification
Application procedures
Entrance exams
Program options
Immunizations
How long is the ADN & BSN
What are my options if i don't get into the nursing program
help with employment
What campus do I attend during my prereq's, and Nursing
How many classes should I take per semester if I want to finish within 2 years for my ADN?
During the nursing program is it in the AM or PM only?
uhhhh what else I don't know! I am a bit lost right now
Also what school should I choose!! ??
