Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

We need 11 books just for NUR 1020?

Does anyone use a PDA? If so, what would you recommend putting on it?

Good source for used books is Amazon-

Any other recommendations?:)

Holy COW! Can you please post the books because for some reason I can't open pdf files....:crying2:

Broward College Nursing Jan 2011 is the name of the group on facebook. For whatever reason the owners of this site deleted the link I posted. lol

Hmm.. I cant seem to find it either :uhoh3:

how is everyone finding what books we need?!?!

how is everyone finding what books we need?!?!

That's what I'd like to know......

that's what i'd like to know......

go through previous posts within this thread itself, and i believe there is a link provided by sunraygurlrn2b with the list of books that we will need. if the post is not from her, maybe another student posted the link. just flip through the previous pages and u should be able to find the link to the booklist. i found it last week and printed it out.

by the way, were u able to find the book for solving clinical calculations?

holy cow! can you please post the books because for some reason i can't open pdf files....:crying2:

wow

Specializes in ED.

About which campus where you don't need to buy the book for pharm-North and Central. At central theres 2, I believe ones a male, ones a female. At north, there's only one.

Also, here's just a few things. You don't need to buy any of the Lewis Med-surg books now. Those aren't needed until the second semester for GIGU. You'll need it again for Ortho/Neuro and Cardio, but you do not need it the first semester. Fluid and Electrolytes Made Easy you do not need for NP1, so you can wait to buy that until right before NP2 begins. Also, the lab kit you won't need until NP2 as well. They may tell you to buy it now and hold onto the receipt in case you need to return it, but I will tell you the bookstore WILL NOT RETURN it. When you buy it, they will tell you sales are final. If for some reason, you decide that nursing isn't for you, you're stuck with $130 kit. They say to do this if you have financial aid so you can get your stuff using it, however, before every session, there is a period for financial aid to use it in the bookstore. Just bring a copy of your schedule to prove you have a session 4 class and you're fine. (In case you didn't know, the first half of the semester is considered session 2, the second half is session 4. The courses that run all 16 weeks are session 1 and the ones that start a few weeks late and end a few weeks early but run about 12 weeks are session 3).

At north campus, I did not use:

ANA Ethics Book

CASTILLO Case Study book

PICKAR Dosage Calculations Book (The math class has everything you need, plus you can get practice math problems from the north professor's website)

VANLEEUWEN Lab and Diagnostics Book (might be useful, but it wasn't like you needed this to pass)

EVOLVE Practice Tests and Case Studies books (When I started, this wasn't even on the book list, so I have no idea how this is even used in the program)

Unfortunately... They started using the casitllo book at north for post-conference :-(

What does post-conference mean? And would we need the Casitllo book the first half of the semester?
