Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

That email is for a practice for the math course that we will be taking in January!! I just registered for it. It cost $132.09 and it starts tomorrow at Central building 8 room 206. No book needed. It is optional, but I am sure it is worth taking...it is a practice course for pre-nursing students. I think it's worth a shot. 4 Thursdays from 1:30pm to 5:30pm :)

Does everyone at all the campuses basically have the same schedule the first semester?? Like can I do part time or theres no such thing as that in the program? Also, what hospital does north use for clinicals?

thanks =]

There is no part time here...From what I saw on the paperwork they gave at orientation you are there all the time, and you don't really have a choice on the schedule.

Yes you register first. Then depending on the campus you will be attending you will submit the paperwork that they require in their specific time frame. I don't have insurance either so this is what I paid: $30 ish for the background check online, $60 for the finger prints, $29 for the drug test, about $285.00 for the physical and all lab work immunizations etc. The hep B shot is a series of three this price included the first one. The other 2 are about $90.00 each where I did them and one is done within a month and the other in 6 months.

Thank You,

Best of Luck:nurse:

i also applied for the online program because i'm in west kendall and have 4 kids. as a single mom, i had to do what was best for all of us. harder or not, if you have the drive and the motivation, you'll succeed....at least that's what i tell myself. congrats to all of us and see you all soon! : )

i live in homestead and have 3 kids, so i totally relate to your situation. i think i may do online as well because it is more stress arranging routines for the my kids because they are in school and at a learning center. you are right, we just have to remain positive and motivated no matter if it is online/face to face.

due to work, i will not be able to attend the practice math :scrying:. however i am studying from a book called clinical calculations made easy. it has basic math, the metric system, apothecary system, houshold measurements, etc. it all so teaches u how to solve math problems involving the metric systems....as well as, solving drug calculations (tablets, capsules, liquid, i.v., etc..) it is helping me out because it takes a step-by-step approach. i have not touched math for a while, so i need the brush up.

Is anyone else going to the math course tomorrow??

thank you for posting this, i too am unable to make it to the math practice but i will definitely buy this book tomorrow! thanks again! : )

I wanted to take the math course but I have a class around that same time :scrying:

there are other books called math for nurses as well. just look to see which book u would be more comfortable with. i also purchased test success for beginning nursing students just to get a head start. if u are a border's member, they have coupons to get discounts/percentages off books. sometimes it is like 33%-40% off. at barnes and nobles, u need a membership to get savings.

Hey I was accepted but got very few points.:yeah::yeah: I already have a BA from the University of South Florida. Are there anyone out there with a BA or BS already, because Im concern about finanial aid?

How many points did you have? I think you will still be able to get fin aid. At the orientation a financial aid rep will be there to discuss anything you need to know.

I got a 7. But Im wondering because of my past science history because Ive taken Organic Chemistry, Mico, General Chem I & II and Im a HIV/AIDS Case manager which is what a RN Case manager does. I was pursuing PA but decided nursing was waaaaay better! I also work for Broward Health. So I wonder if they took that all in account. I also did very well on the HESI.
