New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!
The first Orientation will be at Central Campus to give you all the information you need. Then when it is time to register you just register for the campus that you would like to attend. That is the time you get to choose a campus you are not assigned one at this time. At that point, every campus will have their own orientation for the students attending that campus. This is what we were told on October 8th when I attended. Hope it helps!

Yup, this is correct :)

Thank you,
Were you initial part if the August, group? You mentioned you attended the orientation already, are we allowed to bring a guest with us? Will we receive a final confirmation for orientation. Sorry to bombard you with so many questions. just excited and anxious
Yes, I was part of the August group. I didn't take anyone with me to orientation. But I am not sure if someone is welcome. What I suggest you take is a pen and paper to right down EVERYTHING they tell you so you know exactly what you need to do, in what order, and where. It is a lot of information so come prepared. I got an email that said see you the 8th when I responded to their initial email. (though it did take some time) So good luck and see you in January! I am excited to and any other questions you have that I can answer let me know. We are all in this together... :)

One more question............Are we allowed to register prior to submitting our physical, certificate etc....
And what was the deadline given to your group to submit all the paper work. I waited almost a year and a half to start nursing school......now that I have been accepted I'm so excited. Although, from what I have read it wont be a walk in the park, but i have faith I will succeed(all of us will).
Also if you don't mind given me a run down of your out of pocket expenses---I don't have a primary doctor or insurance and I'm worried I wont be able to handle the expense for the physical.
Yes you register first. Then depending on the campus you will be attending you will submit the paperwork that they require in their specific time frame. I don't have insurance either so this is what I paid: $30 ish for the background check online, $60 for the finger prints, $29 for the drug test, about $285.00 for the physical and all lab work immunizations etc. The hep B shot is a series of three this price included the first one. The other 2 are about $90.00 each where I did them and one is done within a month and the other in 6 months.
I also applied for the online program because I'm in West Kendall and have 4 kids. As a single mom, I had to do what was best for all of us. Harder or not, if you have the drive and the motivation, you'll succeed....at least that's what I tell myself. Congrats to all of us and see you all soon! : )

I'd start looking at the Test Success book and reading it because it explains test taking strategies. I never really had a chance to give it a read, I just practiced questions and read about the rationales at that time. Also, I would get started on reading now. The first exam covers almost 700 pages of text book reading.
I've also used Fundamentals Success and Saunders Nclex books as well.
