Hi! This is a thread for anyone applying for August 2012 class at Broward College for the generic nursing track. I deferred my seat so I will be starting in August. I haven't decided if I want to go to central or south yet.. I'm super excited about starting in August! If I could help anyone with anything feel free to ask! :)
I am having a hard time finding out the contact hours that are needed for each course if possible could some one tell me what is needed as far as hiv (how many hours) domestic violence (how many hours) tb/osha (how many hours) thank you i want to make sure that i do the right amount of hours for each course.
BLS-Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers HSC0405. The CPR curriculum must be approved by the American Heart Association and/or American Red Cross 3-8 Contact Hours; HSC0691 Domestic Violence 2.0 Contact Hours; HSC0591 HIV/AIDS 4.0 Contact Hours; HSC0522 OSHA/TB/Hepatitis 6.0 Contact Hours; HSC 0692Prevention of Medical Errors 2.0 Contact Hours.
Does anyone understand why so many people deferred their seats from January and May to August?I read on a thread that if you don't have certain classes by your last semester you will not be able to graduate...is that true? If so which classes are required?
Not sure about Jan, but many people who applied in may were planning to go to North campus as the 2 campuses listed were North and central during the application period, however at the pre-admission meeting we were informed that North was not accepting students for summer. Other applicants choose not to attend summer session as it's shorter than the others terms or they needed to work out financial issues. At the pre-admission meeting for last session they told all students who had not completed (or were not taking in winter term) microbiology, a humanities and social/behavioral science ( sociology, phych, ethics) that they had to defer as they would need these classes to register for the last semester of nursing school and there would be no time to complete them. The May session only gets their last summer off. I'm not sure is the Fall session will allow people to start without these subjects since you might be able to do them next summer.

Thank you so much for your insight! I still need to complete micro...I hope they allow me to do it next summer because I don't want to defer...the new requirements for January 2013 bite! Thanks again!
