Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?
How much did u pay for the shots, and where did u go? I don't have insurance, so I want to weigh my options. I will be going to North.
I got the Hep B at the Department of Health for $47. Its cheaper than what I have heard elsewhere. The only downside is the long lines, but its guaranteed that they will have it. My PCP didnt have it when I went to him.
I live in Port Saint Lucie and IRSC is very hard to get accepted into the program. It seems like BCC is easier to get into by the comment I've read on here, what do you guys think about Keiser University? I asked an RN supervisor is they prefer IRSC RNs over Keiser RNs and she said it didn't matter that most hospitals requires RNs with a bachelor's degree and clinical experience

Personally, I would check to see what any school's NCLEX passing rate is. Secondly, if you plan on getting a BSN or a MSN its important that the school be accredited. To me, following those guidelines will guide you in your decision making.
BC is VERY competitive. A lot of us have speculated as to why the deadline has been extended. Some say not enough applicants. I think it is not enough PASSING applicants since they required a minumum HESI score now. I know of a bunch of students who have had to take the test several times.
I finished the BLS course and 2 out of the 3 Hepatitis shots. Next one is due in August......and the wait continues. June 15th can get here any sooner. Im tired of checking the site everyday:D
Is anyone applying for South Campus here?
I am also applying for South Campus :) I finished getting my Hep shots last month. One less thing to worry about!! Right now I am trying to survive the 6 week Micro & Lab class. Just 2.5 weeks to go!!!!!
You don't need Micro for the program but you do need it to graduate. I've heard that we will have a 1/2 summer off during the Nursing program. Maybe you could do a crazy 6 week class and lab during summer like I am doing now. It is crazy intense but I am happy to get it out of the way quickly. I hate microscopes LOL!
