I am in the same sinking boat as so many other recent NP grads. No one will hire me without experience and I cannot get experience unless someone will hire me. I went through my savings to get this degree and now cannot find a job. I am taking every locus tenens job offered and taking clinical instructor positions though I wanted to to primary care. It is extremely disappointing and disheartening. I am going to lose my house and my children cannot go to college. My grades were good, I passed the boards on the first try and I spend several hours per day trying to find a job. Where are these residency programs anyway? I am about to give up

What school did you go to? Have you contacted your program for assistance? Are you willing to relocate?

So very sorry for your predicament. Some suggestions:
1. Network with your clinical sites.
2. Work as an RN.
3. Join your states APN organization - they usually have student rates for the first year after graduation.
4. Talk with some of your FNP instructors and see if they have any insight.
5. Are you open to relocation?
6. Headhunter?

All of the items mentioned above apply. Networking is a big key to getting your first job in any field.
In addition, you might look at the national health servicecorps website, they have a list of facilities that are looking for NPs, many will take new grads. There was also another government site, can't think of it right now but it had VA and other government jobs listed on one site, many were listed and took new grads.

We can't recruit enough NPs here for primary care and internal medicine. We advertise nationally. Starting salary for a new grad is $92,500 with bonus potential to 50% of salary annually .
In other words, there are jobs out there, but be prepared to relocate.

A friend of mine emailed several clinics that hadn't even posted a job and spoke with the office manager. She ended up getting a part time position. I bothered a family member who works within the hospital system I was just hired for to send the hiring manager an email and I got the job. It's worth a try..
What part of the county are you in? I know here in MA you can still find primary and retail health jobs in certain parts of the state.

In my State, the key to finding an NP position for new grads is to directly contact Physician Practices/Groups that hire NP. Most do not advertize openings. I know individuals that have received 3 or more Job offers through this approach.
The school you went to, is it a local Brick and Mortar school and is it well respected in the area? In some State/Cities, doing your Degree online can put you at a disadvantage if there are "many" local NP schools pumping out graduates each year. Were you able to get any interviews from your job search to date? How many years RN experience do you have?

I am in the same boat as you are. But for me it's a little bit different, I'm finding it difficult to find the right fit. It's very challenging to find the right fit. I don't want to sign a contract then leave after a year. I just signed a part-time (as independent contractor) for a podiatrist. Will visit nursing homes two to four times a month. This will keep me afloat for now, hopefully.
Hang in there.

Hang in there. At least you have options if you are willing to relocate and you are willing to work as an RN. There are many who do not have those options and they are unemployed and broke too, so you are not alone.
