Specializes in Emergency/ICU.

Hello,

Checking to see if there are any classmates on here for this class. If so, hoping we can support one another through this. I don't see many previous threads on this class, so that is a good sign. Wishing everyone the best!

I was signed up for this class, to raise a 20 year old grade of C higher, but since I've been accepted to the spring 14 nursing program, I dropped it. I wish you luck!

I just finished this course. There's a lot of writing but the grading seemed lenient. Lots of reading, discussion board posts, three essays, and two timed essay exams. Nearly all the reading material is available online, but I ended up checking everything out from the library because I don't like reading long passages on the internet. If you want to get a head start, begin reading A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man now. Good luck. This class was pretty boring but not too difficult.

Kirsnikity,

Glad to hear the class is nothing too major to worry about. I hope I have the right books because I have "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead" and "Wilderness Tips." I bought them 2 weeks before the class because that's what the info was on Student Center. I hope it's right! Anyway, thanks for the tips. Seems manageable, just need to not get behind!

I'm starting this class tomorrow also, it's nice to finally see a thread on it haha. It's my last class along with capstone ... So ready to be done with this. I'm really not a literature person, and I've done APA papers for ages. Learning MLA again hopefully won't be too bad.

No worries about MLA. I did everything in APA format (used perrla for my papers) and it wasn't a problem.

Hope we can use APA, too. I am almost done with the program and I am loathe to learn another writing style!

Mushy, did you get the same books I did for this course? Congrats on almost being done! I saved this and algebra for last (before Capstone). Glad to be finishing up assessment and done with the killer nursing classes (Research, Vulnurable, etc.)

Kirsnikity,

You were right about Portrait. Guess I'll go to the library tomorrow and pick it up because I don't want to read a long book online.

I hope we can do APA too! But honestly I haven't even gotten books for this class yet. I'm slacking big time haha. Starting this program I was all organized and ready to go... at this point I'm just like, dragging along to the finish line. I'll try to get the books tomorrow. But it looks like those are the only two we will have to get on our own so you should be good. I'll probably get them tomorrow. And yes! I dreaded algebra... and research was the worst thing I've ever done in college.

Well, the quizzes are easy if you set yourself up to be able to search for the answers in the text, teacher's notes, etc. I hope I'm doing the discusson boards correctly. I'm putting in lots of opinion sprinkled with facts to support some things. So far, not bad!

I'm actually finding this class doable so far. Nothing too crazy. I can't say I'm a fan of the Canterbury tales, though...

Got some feedback on the discussion posts and so far, so good. Went ahead and cranked out the Chaucer essay and turned it in tonight. Hope it's right. Glad to be moving on from Canterbury Tales, too.

Mushy, did you take college algebra at UTA? If so, was it doable in 8 weeks? Did you have to purchase a camera and do proctored tests like I've heard about? I have to work at math, it doesn't come easy. Is college algebra doable with Capstone if working full time?
