The wife of White House communications chief Bill Shine said Wednesday that childhood diseases such as measles “keep you healthy & fight cancer.”
In a series of tweets echoing anti-vaccination views she’s espoused publicly for years, Darla Shine lamented the fact her children had received the MMR vaccine, which guards against measles, mumps and rubella. She added that people of her generation – the Baby Boomers – were healthier now because they had measles as children.
“I had the #Measles #Mumps #ChickenPox as a child and so did every kid I knew – Sadly my kids had #MMR so they will never have the life long natural immunity I have,” Shine tweeted, adding, “Come breathe on me!”

Ok, this lady has a screw loose. Why would someone say that in public?

I’ve typed and deleted several times in response to this article.
My response: she’s a twit.
She is using her social platform to spread dangerous misinformation on vaccinations. She has most likely never lost anyone to such childhood diseases, nor has known anyone who experienced complications from such “innocent” diseases.
Basically, like anyone as associated so closely with the Trump administration, I’m not surprised and 2020 cannot come soon enough.

She's happy about having had the disease? Well, one can only hope she also experiences shingles...

The baby boomers alive today are the ones who didn't die of measles.

I stopped calling them anti-vaxxers and started calling them Pro-Diseasers.
I normally don't advocate forced medical care, but childhood immunizations should be one of them.
Right now since many states are allowing children 13 and older to make their own medical decisions, many of these teens are requesting vaccinations that did not receive them when they were younger.
I think the health department should have immunization fairs at high schools to help in this process.
We had measles eradicated in the United States and now the rate is doubling every year. It is now the highest rate we have seen in 30 years. Others will follow. We are too far removed from the generation that saw the severe damage that childhood diseases caused. Unfortunately, the collateral damage is going to be the loss of a few thousand children's lives before the gov't steps in and fixes it.

I agree with you. But the gov't already stepped in once and "fixed" this, the question is what happened to that fix.

In 1960's, best friends sister died from measles. Fast forward to 1989, neighbors child had wicked cough for 2 wks so didn't babysit for me. I checked on them, heard that whooping cough sound, learned not immunized and insisted on immediate 2nd opinion doctors visit; child needed neb tx, mom fired her pediatrician as they missed diagnosis, child later caught up on immunizations.

I would say if you polled most anti vaxxers..they would be ignorant liberals. Good try at a Trump jab though.
