That despite my fears of needles, poop, pee, and other bodily fluids, I can overlook it all in the heat of the moment!!

I got creeped out watching the injections videos and never thought I would be able to do it -- first SQ -- right in!! Piece of cake!!

I've started about 10 IVs in my first week as an intern this summer....still have a ways to go on my technique once they're in, but I CAN shoot pretty straight (or not, as the case may be)!!!

When there's a will, there's a way!!

I graduated number 1 in my class and I was either the oldest or one of the oldest in our class. My school had a horrendous grading system: 80 - 86 = C, 87 - 93 = B, 94 - 100 = A. Other nursing schools in town required 80% to pass, but that was a B.

I was proud that I was able to do so well in spite of fact it was 23 years since my original college graduation.

Currently 1st in my class!!! 4.0 Gpa with 4 months left!!!

Can you tell Im very proud? :)

I have to say though, I have a very competitive class and I don't share my grades with others (except 2 that I am close to). I was advised by my instructor that I am by far first in my class, but Im not sure anyone else knows. I would be lynched for even saying it.

On the last day of my first semester (which was like four weeks ago) I was caring for a patient, 2nd day in a row, who was battling cancer. He'd wanted to get into the whirlpool tub on the floor that no one ever used, but I promised him I'd see what I could do. His nurse and I got him in it and he absolutely loved it. While I was bringing him back to his room he told me that he could tell that I really cared and that if I kept my good attitude I'd be a terrific nurse. He told my instructor, too, how much he appreciated my honesty and that I listened to him. It was absolutely the best feeling and cemented that I had made the right career choice.

Oh, and I got a 4.0 for my first semester, which felt awesome!

I have only 2 months left, and I have so many accomplishments to name. The ones that realy mean alot were:

Getting this far when so many people I worked with were convinced that I was too "DUMB" to even make it through the first semester.

Realizing that unlike the friends I had in high school . . . darn druggies . . . I'm making something out of my life.

Passing my calculations math test with an A . . . i have never gotten an A in math before in my life.

Catching Vicodin on a PRN med order and discovering the person had an allergy to Acetomenaphen reacting with an anaphylactic reaction, before the med had been given to the person . . . YIKES!!!

Passing my timed med pass . . . 8 LTC patients with tons of meds in 40 minutes. I am not the fastest at passing meds, and didn't think I would ever pass. I was so happy I cried when I passed.

Last but not least all the new friends I have made, and I am starting to find myself as a person through becoming a nurse.

I survived my community class and final. It has by far been my least enjoyable and most frustrating class. If I manage to squeak by with an A, I will have a 4.0 GPA after 3 quarters of an accelerated BSN program.

Edited to add: after initially getting an 86 on my final, they threw out some questions that bumped me up to a 90. So I'm one of 8 people out of 108 in the class who got an A on the final. My grade is still up in the air because of a paper worth 30% of my grade, but I'm really proud that I managed to get an A on that darn test!
