One of the nurses I work with accidentally put a 20g IV in the patients brachial artery. It was immediately removed and pressure was applied. After an hour the patient had a 20mm hematoma, no complaints of pain and the site was then iced. The hematoma did reduce in size after ice. Should there be any concern?

No concern Just put in a note documenting normal sensation, motor and perfusion of the hand and all is good. 20 ga brachial arterial lines, while not ideal, are placed all the time when there is nothing more distal.
