In case anyone missed it Borders books is closing and by bankruptcy court order is now having an liquidation sale.
For anyone requiring nursing or related books now might be a good time to stock up.

As of yesterday nursing books were only 10% off. Not the best deal yet.

Nursing books?? Heck no---I'm going for the bestsellers!!
Living here in NYC have considerable experience with bankruptcy/liquidation sales, most recently Circut City. *LOL*
Here is the bottom line: the longer you wait the better discounts, however stock will also decrease to the point that by the time things reach >50% or >75% off there may be slim pickings.
Many dealers/resellers make their living trolling liquidation sales looking for inventory. Indeed this is where so much of the stock you see on places like eBay comes from.
IIRC once the court orders liquidation the company no longer has control but usually an outside business comes in and takes over. Such companies will often move stock around between stores for maxim sales, and or sell off job lots to the big dogs (see above), to move goods.
My rule of thumb is to know what the best "normal" price one can get for an item is (that includes eBay), then compare against whatever discount the store is offering.
Ten percent off is basically saving me the NYS/NYC sales tax and getting the item for a few dollars off. If I really want or need the thing will lossen the mousetrap, otherwise I keep stopping in daily or so and see how things are going.
For those in the San Francisco area here is a local blog report:

If you want any discount buy the books now. I went to the borders in Riverside and the only thing I found was an nclex medication review, which I bought. Everything else (RN related) was gone. By the time the 50%+ discount comes around all that will be left are golfing books.
Not to mention the line was 30 minutes long

Get them now before they are gone...when they start putting 30-40% off there won't be any nursing books left. Borders in CT closed about 2-3 months ago and they about 5 nursing books left at 40%off it was more peds and books I honestly didn't need, I got the last labs made easy book from $25 I paid about $15.

Nursing books were not much of a bargin price. I went yesterday and the nursing books were all 10% off and the line literally wraped around the entire store! you're better off buying off amazon and ebay.

I got my Tablers Cyclopedia v. 12 for 10% off last night...the base price of the book was cheaper than the book store at school and the 10% made it sweeter! And I got an NCLEX review book with CD also - can't start too early!

I could not find any of the books I needed on the website, no wonder they are going out of business. It was a good idea though, hopefully someone can find some cheaper text books there.

In Hawaii they are marked down to 40% off. I'm going in the morning!
