I don't know if it's available in MMla but "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall" is a good book about Western Medicine meating with other cultural beliefs (the Hmong specifically). Also, "Wit" by Margaret Edson is also a good book about a cancer patient's experience. Oh, and The daughter of the Queen of Sheba is an interesting read if you're more interested in mental health. I could go on and on, but I'll stop. Have fun reading :) Have you read interesting books yourself? Let me know because I'm always looking for good ones
One more, My sister's keeper by Jodi Picoult is a very good one. It's fiction but it deals with the ethical issues of "cloning" and selective conception. A young girl was conceived for the purpose of having to donate blood for her sister with cancer (since both parents' blood were incompatible) and in the end she grows tired and wants control of her body. It's really good. If it's not available in Manila, you can try something online and maybe they can FedEx it.
hey IseeU_rn,
the only book I had read related to nursing is The English Patient. I'll check them out, thanks. Other answers is welcome.
