Bon Secours School of Nursing!!!

Published

I am a senior in high school; graduating June 2009.

I am interested in becoming a nurse (hopefully, an NP one day :D). So, I am applying to Bon Secours School of Nursing (evening classes). I am currently a full-time pharmacy technician & a soon-to-be mom (I'm 6 months pregnant). I feel that this is a good choice for my family & myself.

I just have a few questions.

Being that I am younger than most applicants, do you think my chances to be admitted are slim?

My cum. high school GPA, as of last semester, is a 2.6; is that good enough to be accepted??

Is there anything I can do to strengthen my application?

Any advice is needed & appericated!:redpinkhe

I am applying for fall of 09 as well. Sending out my app next week. I dont think age will matter, your GPA is okay. I think they look mostly at how many non nursing classes you have taken, if you will be working, and the teas score. Good luck...update me on anything you find out...we can wait it out together!

I'm fresh out of high school; I havent taken any nursing courses. But, I have completed a Pharmacy Technician course.

& will be working (I will have a baby to provide for). Does that slim my chances?

Hi, I graduated from high school in 2007. I also applied for bon secours the year i graduated and got in on the first try. Age doesnt matter with Bon secours.. if you are taking an evening class i think that you will be fine working and caring for your baby. Just keep in mind i think they make you do Saturday clinicals with evening classes. Right before i went into my classes the head of admissions was working on talking to newly graduated high school students and asking if they wanted to defur for a few semsester to get some pre-reqs out of the way. Thats when i made the decision to go to J sarg and take all the pre-reqs and go right into the program either at bon secours or J Sargeant Reynolds Community Clooege. They prefer that you do not work or working part time. But after a few semsters you can go and ask, and they will try to find u a job inside the hospital and i have even heard of them counting that as your clinicals. Like I said i got in but i didnt attend a class there. If bon secours does not pan out i would look at attending J sarg ( if you are in the richmond area) Hope this helps.
