Board Vitals for AANP Exam

Published

Hi!

I am taking my AANP exam in 2 weeks. I recently came across Board Vitals. I noticed that they help students prepare for the ANCC. I have done a lot of practice questions, but I thought I may give them a try. Has anyone used Board Vitals before? Thank you

I used it for AANP and thought it was by far the most helpful question set with detailed rationales, if not a little on the difficult side (which is good for prep in my opinion). My friend used it for ANCC and said they even had a section with the new ANCC question types (the complicated image ones etc. that everyone is scared about) which she said nobody else has yet.

Our program purchased it for us, so I got an email with an exam I had to take once a week when I was preparing for the exam. It was probably the single best prep resource that I used for the exam, though. Questions were on topic and tough! Good luck.

Thank you both for your kind response. Based on your review of Board Vitals, I purchased a one month subscription. I have only done ~50 questions so far, but I have to say, these are challenging! It is good, because I want to be challenged at this point. It allows me to critically think and it is very helpful.

Thanks again!

Yeah, these were by far the hardest questions I took. I found myself getting about 50% right, and I passed the test just fine, so don't let it get you down! :)

Oh thank you so much for telling me that. I feel much better. I actually just took an EENT subject test (50 questions only) and scored a 68%... I was pretty disappointed about my score. I found that some of the subject questions were repeated (~2-4 questions). I hope to score higher, b/c I have been studying very hard, but this is definitely reassuring.

Thanks again!

e8y82002,

You mentioned that you were getting about 50% right on board vitals, I have taken several 150Q timed exams (maybe about ~7 to 8 exams thus far) and I am averaging a 65%.

Were you taking full length exams and scoring on average 50%? My AANP exam is on tuesday and just getting a little anxious about my overall score. What is a little reassuring is that my overall percentile rank (compared to others) is 79% (national average is 69%).

Thanks again for your tremendous help and advice. I truly appreciate it! :)

Hi richied,

What do you mean by "new complicated image questions?" The reason I ask is because ANCC updated their tests as of Feb 8th, 2016.

I am considering their test as well for ANCC FNP exam.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gizagora,

I heard the same too and just would like to find as much data about these updated new exams too before I invest more money into these costly reviews I want to be sure that I'm getting up to date material. That's why I wrote everything down that I could remember after I took the aanp just a week ago. And I'm sure glad I did.

Hi CSWgirl and gosh golly good luck. No matter what happens write down everything you recall so you can use it later, that's really important to do. I wish you the very very best. We all deserve to pass

CSWGirl,

Did you end up passing? I ended up right at 55% on BoardVitals taking full length exams, so I'm hoping you made it all the way through the actual exam. At the time the BoardVitals average was 65% (which is pretty awesome that they actually tell you), though I genuinely sad that they told me I was below average. Lol. Oh well.

The actual exam was hard, I thought.

Gizagora,

Yes, write things down right after you get out!

Did you find anything more out about the complicated image questions? They weren't on my exam, but the next years are asking about it.

I am in the final semester of my AG-ACNP program and have been doing board vitals since January (my subscription ends in June). I too find the questions challenging, and I've had quite a few image questions. I'm planning on taking the ANCC exam late summer. Was also contemplating doing the live Barkley Review, but cost is a factor.
