Biology or Chemistry

Published

Hello ,

I am working on taking classes for my next degree and one of the schools I am eyeing has a choice between Chemistry and Biology. Which course would you choose for the science pre-req.

If it's either / or and you know you won't require the other: Are you more in to math or science?

If you're strong in math, do Chemistry, which is algebra masquerading as science.

If you're more science inclined, definitely biology.

Ty ? Biology it is LOL

Specializes in ICU.

Check the prerequisites for the program you are entering. Chemistry is pretty much a given for nursing programs. Biology might be needed to get into Anatomy & Physiology depending on your school.

Specializes in Burn, ICU.

Biology will probably include the functions of the cell and the Kreb's cycle, so it might help prepare you for A&P.

Specializes in Psychiatric, in school for PMHNP..

My program required Chemistry,  Anatomy & Physiology, and Pathophysiology. It’s been so long ago I can’t remember for sure, but I think I had to have Biology as a pre-req for both A&P and Pathophysiology.  It can only help to take both, and I think you probably will need both.
