What are the best and worst things about pursuing nursing? Is it the classes, the pressure, the chance to go after your dream...etc?
What nursing school item can you not wait to buy?
I hope that I get some interesting replies!!
Thanks,
Clover

The best thing about nursing for me is the flexibility of hours and flexibility of jobs you can do.
The worst thing about nursing is the hard, thankless work. Some patients really appreciate you but many do not.
I love to buy nursing related books.
I realize I'm not a student but as I say the truly educated never graduate and I wanted to throw in my

Best thing about nursing is the wide range of jobs and hours.....
worst thing is the length of pre-reqs and the pressure to get A's
I cant wait to buy my stethescope and get my name tag that says:

The worst is the stress of having to make A's and the competitiveness to get into the programs. Buying stuff for nursing school is the farthest from my mind at this point I haven't even applied for a program yet.
By that time I might be so bummed out and not even enjoy getting stuff for it

The best thing is the variety of settings a nurse can work in and the hours and flexibility. Nurses are in such high demand it's a great time to be in the profession! I'm stressing waiting for my acceptance letter. I'm actually looking forward to buying scrubs. I worked in the corporate world for four years and wore a suit everyday to work. So this will be a change (and a lot less expensive!!).

If we hang in there, we'll make it. I bet we will be so psyched to get in we will run to the store and happily throw done TONS of money for our supplies (you have to do it right after you get the letter while your still excited or you will faint for the total :chuckle )
I am stressing too! I applied to both nursing and respiratory therapy. The nursing class accepts 96 an RT accepts 20. Needless to say... stressing is a daily occurance. I hope we get in!! I am so excited to buy scrubs. I know it is odd to say, but it is true!

the worst is trying to get into required classes that are always full! next to that is the competitive atmosphere and jealousy that runs rampant within certain groups.
Best is getting that fat envelope that says CONGRATUALATIONS!
Oddly enough i am looking forward to buying my nursing school books and new school bag and getting my sylabus early...:uhoh21: (yes i have become a pod person...)

I believe the best thing about Nursing is that there is so much flexibility. If you're not happy with one avenue you turn down the next one. There are so many different things that you can do so that you wont be stuck in a dead job banging your head up against a wall. I would have to say the worst thing is that as a prenursing student, I am constantly thinking of ways to get my career on track...should I do this, should I take that, would that count, A.S. or B.S., B.S. or M.S....constantly. I'm just happy that I know what I want to do with my life and came to the conclusion that I will just take my time and do what I have to do which entails doing all my prereqs plus some other sciences and math courses. I figured with the waiting lists being so long, I mind as well get my A.S. in Science and then transfer to a four year college. The one thing I do want to get is my uniform because when I see nurses in their scrubs, it makes me smile to know that they are doing the one thing that I too hope to be doing. Oh yeah, I want a PDA. I'm just looking forward to graduating from school once I get into an accellarated BSN-MSN program. I'm definately going to throw myself a party....a big one.
