I am wondering what shoe out here in this world best supports us nurses, being on our feet for so long. There might not be the fix it shoe, that takes away all the pain in our calves, but there has to be something better out there. I use my running sneakers, and they are the light as air Nike ones, feels like your wearing nothing on your feet, i wear my teds too, noticed some difference when I started using it, but after a week or so, i felt the calf pain and stuff all over. not sure if its my sneakers, the way im standing or I need to get Clogs or something. ? any suggestions?this is totally affecting my posture, the way I sit, and work out and everything. I feel like my calf is carrying an elephanlt or something, and Im only 5'4, petite little one. help

Birkenstocks, if they comply with your dress code. There are two women's styles with a back on them and they now make a soft footbed. I wore mine the first night all 12 hours and did not need a break in period. No joke. Also Kswiss makes a good stable shoe, but I put a memory foam insole in mine for a little comfort. They definitely had a break in period, but they last a long time too.

After years of enduring foot pain, I finally started buying shoes one-half size bigger than I actually wear. I wear Nike's, so with them tied, the extra length doesn't slide around on my feet, but give my toes lots more room. My feet never hurt now. I also have found that if I buy a men's NIKE, instead of a woman's, they are built with a lot more support in them. I was reluctant to do that, because I am vain and do not want my feet to look huge, but the relief is worth it, and nobody really looks at my feet, anyway! I am concerned about your calf pain. My daughter just saw a chiropractor about her leg pain, and was told that one leg was one-inch shorter than the other one, and causing some problems with her spine, etc. Not to give medical advise, of course, but it seems strange that your shoe would cause calf pain(?) Might want to see your doc about that. I personally cannot wear TED's or support hose, they make my legs feel worse!
