Best shoe for the ED?

What's the best shoe to wear in the ED?

I would recommend Standing Comfort shoes...they are like tennis shoes, but VERY comfortable...My feet don't hurt as they used to, after 12 hours of floor work...

I wear Dansko clogs. They're the only shoes I've found that don't kill my feet after 12 hours. And I've managed to learn to run in them without twisting an ankle :p

Don't think too much about it, just get whatever color running shoes are allowed---usually white.

I recommend SAS shoes (San Antonio Shoe Company...I think) hands down. I can work in them for the entire time (12-15 hours), no pain, no foot/leg fatigue, etc. I personally like their clog, but they also have shoes with laces, velco and slip ons. Some might say a bit pricey (I paid $130 for my clogs) but worth every penny! Oops almost forgot to mention, every size imaginable is available from narrow to extra wide.

Specializes in long-term-care, LTAC, PCU.

Danskos. I love them. I've had the same pair for a few years and they have held up as well as if I just bought them. I also have a pair of new balance and nikes but the danskos aren't even close as far as comfort goes.

Specializes in Adult Acute Care Medicine.

I only wear Dansko.

Most shoe stores give you a 10-15 percent discount if you tell them you are in the medical field.

I have also found some really good deals on Ebay for new danskos.

Even if I paid full price -- worth each cent (and last years).

Specializes in ER, Med/Surg.

Roller-skates. Oh! How about some white "healy's" or whatever they are called.

Specializes in Med/Surg, ICU, ER, Peds ER-CPEN.

I'm in love with my Nike's lol I don't work ER (yet, I'm on the list for cross training lol) but I'm on my feet just as much on the floor, the hospital believes in tennis shoes as well since they bought all nurses a pair of Nike shox (still waiting for them to come in since tey ordered in a color/style not available in stores go figure lmao) So instead of waiting I bought a pair of Nike Torch running shoes and they are the most comfy shoes I've owned to date and the price tag wasn't too bad either

I have yet to try Danskos but hear great things...so that will be my next purchase. But during nursing school, I wore KLOGZ. They aren't the best looking shoes but those, combined with support socks, saved my feet and legs on those 12 hours clinical days! They're super soft
