Best place to apply

Published

Hi,

I am currently an SICU nurse with 1 year under my belt at a level 1 trauma hospital. I graduated last May 2013, and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice as to what CRNA school would be best to apply to and potential get in. I live in the Detroit area and have no problem traveling out of state for school. My GPA for BSN was 3.4, ACLS, BLS, PALS, CCRN. GRE- V148 Q154

One shouldn't base their decision on solely the potential to get in. You also want a school which will make you a competent anesthesia provider. Placing lines, blocks, etc... You don't want to get done and then be limited on where you can get a job because your clinical skills are lacking.

Do you have any school recommendations with the experience/pre requisites that I current have?

You look to be pretty competitive. It's a bonus to be willing to move in order to gain the best experience. Just don't sell yourself short. You can pick which school you think will be best. Apply to a few and then find out which will give you the most experience. You'll be able to choose where you go if you have great references and a little more time under your belt and possibly one more certification just to be safe. All I meant was don't go for the easy admission. Aim high and it'll pay off!

Specializes in SICU.

I've heard and experienced nothing but good things from UM-Flint.
