Hi, I'm looking at entering a nursing program this fall if my stars align and stop playing whack-a-mole with my life.
I discovered while preparing for my TEAS V exam that I remembered more if I watched a youtube vidoe on a subject before and after reading about it.
I read well but some things are just hard to picture in your head without a little help. Example: photosynthesis or meiosis.
I assume others have discovered this as well..
Sometimes I had to dig through a lot of noble attempts at education to find a video that was accurate and on point. Those usually lead to channels and playlists of pure gold.
Now that my TEAS V nightmare is over I want to start compiling videos that will help with the actual nursing classes.
Any help?

MedCram and Khan Academy. Simple Nursing helped some, but he's a little all over the place sometimes. But definitely MedCram and Khan, they are awesome! :)

Simplenursing.com has probably the most complete and thorough selection of videos. As a practicing RN for three years now, I can vouch that the information is good. ED4 nurses youtube channel has a slew of excellent videos as well and you can get a broad overview of nursing. If you want to go even more in depth look up Paul Bolin and his YouTube channel has over 350 videos prepping medical students to take the USMLE step 1-3. His channel is excellent for learning diagnosis, pathophysiology, and treatment of disease, but you will have to write a lot down to look up later. Medcram is an excellent YouTube channel as previously mentioned.

Following along, starting my nursing program this fall. Going to spend some time reviewing concepts from anatomy and physiology. Will also check out the sites mentioned in my down time.

Honestly from one nursing student to another, once you start nursing school you will be so overwhelmed with reading/assignments that you will not have any extra time to look up videos. I'm not saying this to scare you, I just want you to have a good idea of what to expect as I was in your shoes a semester ago. I would recommend simple nursing if anything but to give you an idea, in my first semester we would get assigned 15 chapters of reading a week had 4 different textbooks for a 9 wk class, had online videos and quizzes we had to take before lectures and skills labs and had exams every other week. On top of all the time you spend in clinical and lecture it gets overwhelming. My best advice it to get your text books as early as you can and get a head start on some of the essentials like patient safety, assessments, hygiene, and mobility stuff. That's pretty much what you cover in the beginning before medsurg. Hope this helps and good luck on your nursing journey:)!

I like Nurse Mendoza, he gives a lot of good advice. Idk that he actually discusses learning material. But you can always check him out!

As mentioned above, I'm a huge fan of Khan Academy. Khan Academy has been a lifesaver for me. It has so many subjects on medicine and nursing, as well as test prep. Plus, the methods that they use really have helped me. AND it's free! Hope you love it as much as I do.

Larry Mellick. For when you are tired of studying and need some procedures/codes/explanations to watch. I still to this day watch his channel.
@ clueless91 Thank you, I know how hellish it's going to be. I did an LVN program where if you couldn't teach yourself you were (deleted obcenity). Out of 64 people who started only 15 graduated and of those only 40% passed the NCLEX first time around.
I've got three months before school starts so I'm using them to my advantage and compiling my vid list before test panic time. I know meds (memorization, not administration or calculation) are a weak spot for me so I've already started on those. btw, I LOVE empoweRN videos on meds.
I do appreciate the warning though, I'm sure there will be more than one night that sees me fetal on the bathroom floor crying into a towel so I don't scare my son..
I just keep reminding myself that all the studies show schooling in our "mature" years is good for us (she quietly chants while weeping into her third bowl of ice cream)
