I am possibly moving to the Raleigh-Durham area next year and Im wondering what hospitals are the best to work for and what ones to avoid! I am an L&D nurse with 10 years experience.
Thanks in advance!

Do NOT go to either of the Johnston health facilities. Very Scary. I am not an L&D nurse so I am not sure. Obviously Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are the two biggies with the NICUs and high risk pregnancies. Rex is a very nice hospital and I did a clinical rotation in their L&D. knew 2 nurses there and they loved it (one left b/c her husband was a pastor and got re-assigned).
Don't know of if that helps at all. Rex is a really nice hospital. It is affiliated with UNC but is not a teaching hospital.
I am at Duke and the ones I know that work there love their jobs, too. I guess is depends on it you want the high risk part.
Either way, this is a great area to live!! welcome :)

Hey! I'm really interested in pursuing a job as a nurse at Duke and I see you work there! What is the pay like for someone with a little over 4 years experience? What are the shift diffeeentials and weekend differential like?
oh my gosh,I'd have to go look it up! We just had a change. There was a market increase and then our yearly performance raises. I'll try to get back to you. They are comparable to the other area hospitals now. I know that weekend option nights is $16/hour. I think they run from 4.50 to 9.00 for other shifts.
