Holidays approaching, and the signup list is already in the lounge. Last year we got $10 grocery cards, I think, and the year before we got $10 gas cards. No, really, I think that's all we really got, not to sound greedy. What are the best gifts your hospital every gave you?
Thanks!

I got a $10.00 gift card for Thanksgiving and Christmas last year. Nurses week was a joke, I do not think they did a single thing.

We got absolutely nothing for Christmas and Thanksgiving. For nurses week we got a water bottle, candy bar and a pen. We do get $5 for the vending machines for our birthday! Haha not a lot but I guess I don't really expect much either.

To be honest, this is the first industry I've worked in where people expect to get gifts a couple of times a year. As a matter of fact, it's the first one I've worked in that ever got gifts, too.

True - I haven't worked as a nurse yet (new grad), but I've had many other jobs. I've never gotten a "gift" from my employer. What I have gotten is a yearly cash bonus around Christmas time. I've only gotten $1-200, but my husband gets an extra paycheck every year. $10 is an insult - why bother?

I got a $25 grocery gift card for Christmas. Then they included it as income on our checks so the 25 bucks could get taxed.
My husband usually gets a nice bonus around Christmas time too, but he works in a factory. However, that bonus is based on production and sales over the whole year. I think it is kind of like piece rate only they wait until the end of the year to give it to the employees.

We don't get anything and I really don't expect anything. Honestly, it is gift enough to work short staffed since we all know that people really don't get sick on holidays :)

We don't get holiday gifts at my hospital. For nurses week we got dinner served and candy delivered to our breakroom.

The last two years we've gotten a small bonus at the end of the year.
