I am a home health and hospice nurse, and I am curious what everyone's go to for a stage 3 pressure ulcer on the medial buttocks is? It's a hard spot due to the patient having a bowel movement, and not having help to replace a dressing back over it. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

We use hydrofiber if needed (Aquacel or Aquacel AG if infected with no sulfa allergy) and a border foam (like Allevyn Life) for patients who live alone. The hydrofiber may come off, depending on the depth of the wound, but I have had several patients with paraplegia who are able to place a border foam by themselves. It would depend on the patient. The border foam eliminates the tape, and it can be repositioned to some degree.

I've never heard of Aquacel Ag being contraindicated due to sulfa allergy. Did you mean avoid if silver allergy?
