Today was my last clinical day of the quarter and it was the best one I have had yet. My first clinical day this quarter was on the birth center which I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately that day nothing happened, I maybe got to hang an IV bag and do some vitals. Today I got to go back to the birth center and was just hoping for a birth. I have never had a baby and have never observed a birth so it is something I have always wanted to see. Labor and delivery is really something I wanted to try but couldn't decide until I actually took part in a birth. Today was the day, a patient got admitted in active labor and even though I was supposed to leave at noon today I told my instructor I was staying until that baby was born. I was so grateful to have one of the best nurses to work with and the parents were amazing as well. I saw and did so many things today that I have never seen or done. When that baby came out I started crying. It was amazing and I really feel now like this is something I could do with my career. It was the best last clinical day.

You should cherish days like this every time you get them. It is especially good when you get a day where everything comes together and you get to see/have experience that you did not have earlier. I also think it is wonderful that you had an instructor and nurse to work with that encourage you to stay for the entire birthing process.
The reason I say that you should cherish days like this is that you may not get them very often in your career.
