Best calculator for Statistics

Published

When I was in school before they were very specific on the type of calculator that we were to use. TI-81 and the various updates on it.

The syllabi just say that I need a business or statistics calculator but I'm wondering if a graphing calculator will make the class easier. The one I used to have was very complicated and I know that most of the functions were never used. I'd rather not spend $100 on a calculator if I can spend $40, KWIM?

What calculator did you buy for your pre-req math class?

Specializes in Critical Care, Hospice and Palliative Care.

For my Stats class, I purchased a used TI-83 Plus (Yep, a graphing calculator) from ebay for $40. It was recommended by the instructor and served me well in the class due to its intuitive styling. My course textbook even had sections where it taught me how to use the calculator for specific topics within the book. You should find out which calculator your instructor uses and this may help in your search.

I had a TI-83, I wonder if I can find it here at my dad's. I may be able to borrow one for the summer or I'll check on Ebay.

Thanks!!
