None of that has ever happened to me but I have to ask you.......... Did you proactively ask someone for help? If you ask, you'd be amazed at who will help you.
there has been times i have ask for help and there has been time some would say no i don't have time or they would say its time for me to go. and yes i did have some that would come and help without asking.

Yep. Happened to me too. I indulged in the unforgiveable sin of actually interacting with my patients. It slowed me down, but ultimately it increased their trust in me, so I didn't have to ask for help--the others had to ask me to help instead.
Have you identified exactly what things are slowing you down?
Being assigned the hardest hall is pretty typical behavior when you're the newbie. Not smart on their part, but typical. If you get through that one OK, you get reassigned. Or the hall composition changes due to discharges, hospitalizations and death.
Hang in there and don't be afraid to come here and vent. A lot of us did have to go through that stuff as CNAs too and we really do understand how it can be.

Yes, I have. It helps if you can quickly identify, who are the most, demanding or needy residents. I've been screamed at, cursed at, and complained upon. So I try to make a quick visit to my most needy residents first. Doesn't always work, due to emergencies, family member visits, Physician orders and calls etc. Also, you don't want to your quiet, kind residents, to be neglected or put off. It's like walking a tightrope, sometime. Take your breaks, get some fresh air, definitely eat your lunch. You need all those things! You'll be tempted not to, but in the end, you'll be glad you did! Nursing can be tough, but very REWARDING!
i agree nursing is rewarding ive enjoy being a c.n.a. and of course not you don't want to neglected no one. you want to do your job according to the care plan as possible. but i do believe in team work.none this i did my work forget about the other co-worker i'll go shoot the breeze.

IT DOES HAPPEN
decide how to plan your med passes, some pts have difficulty swallowing pills and it takes awhile look at their general appearance so that you will have an idea of any potentials problems...
if you are unsure of yourself yo are going to be slow until you gain some confidence, it comes with time
don't judge yourself with others, they may be cutting corners
be the best nurse you can be. asl for help if you see you are going to be behind before it gets out of hand
in time you will get it all together

I work in ALF and we take weekly rotations on the halls. How long have you been doing this type of work? When I first started, I would swear I was the slowest person there and I would always arrive last in the dining room. However the longer I worked there, I figured out a routine for myself and I have improved. But I also realized that "my" residents were neatly dressed in outfits that matched, had their teeth in properly and had their glasses on. Also any showers that were assigned that day were done as well. So don't call yourself slow. Also please ask for help too. You would be amazed at the result. And if you don't get help, then talk to your supervisor about the situation. If there are 3 RA's in the dining room and you are still trying to get 2 more resident's ready, then by all means one of them should come and help you. I guarantee that they would want help if they were in your shoes. Good luck!

All I'm going to tell you is "Don't Beat Yourself Up" it has happened to most of us.....I work the morning sometimes at local LTC part time (I normally work NOC at the hospital) and let me tell you I'm ALWAYS the last one finished no matter what side I'm working at.....I've noticed that the people who finish an hour before me are the ones who do the crappiest job....not only that but their side is the easiest (and they get there late) one on the hall.....Nurses have also pointed this out to me, so it's not just me.....So don't worry about what others say to you....As long as you know that you're doing the best job out there and you can manage to get your work done then you'll be fine :-)
