Been out of nursing school for awhile, looking for best NCLEX-RN courses for content review

Published

Hello, I have been out of nursing school for about 5 years (since 2016). I had a few failed attempts to the NCLEX-RN exam shortly after and now I am looking to get started again to pass it. I need a course that would help me especially with content since it has been so long. I have heard Hurst was a good one, but I want to see other peoples' experiences since they are a little pricey. I know doing practice questions are really important and I'm planning on taking UWorld for questions, but I feel that I need strong content review before I can dive into questions.

I also plan to take the exam within the next few months so it would also be nice for suggestions on courses with someone with not a lot of time.

Thank you!

Hi there! Let me assure you that you may THINK that you need to go back to nursing school, but I have helped so many just like yourself to develop strategies that can help you answer NCLEX questions EVEN IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER the specifics of the disease, med, etc. For more info, visit my user profile and all my contact info is there. Or you can send me a private message! You CAN do this - and it does not require a full content review!

Hi, I would recommend Hurst. It definitely sounds like you will need a core content review and thats exactly what Hurst is all about. I did very well in nursing school, but hard topics that I struggled with during nursing school all made sense after I took the course and gave the book a good week of review. I also felt confident on about 8 questions out of 75 on my NCLEX from specific things I learned while using Hurst and I learned many things that I've been able to take into practice.

Good Luck!

I used Saunders and UWorld. I did NCLEX this morning so still awaiting results. Computer stopped after 75 questions. I qualified as an RN in 1998 and worked until 2014 in staff nurse, nurse manager and CNS roles in haem onc. So I had to recap on a lot having specialized. Saunders was great and UWorld was great for practicing questions and providing excellent rationales! You are 5 years out from your course so have faith with a refresh you know your stuff and if you don’t know you know The principles to figure out the right answer! Good luck ?
