How do you give a bed bath? I just seem so incapable and incompetent in doing one. Are these routinely done in the hospital or only long term care?

Sara, if I recall correctly, you are currently a nursing student. Have you worked as a nursing assistant or other unlicensed assistive personnel role in school? I think the repeated exposure to these things would likely benefit you and make you feel more confident in your ability. Depending on where you would work, you may even have a very thorough orientation to UAP tasks. My facility provides a 2 week orientation for our patient care assistants.

They are only sometimes done in LTC where I work & usually only when a resident has an extreme negative reaction to showering or for medical problems cannot be comfortably/transferred & showered.
