Becoming an OR nurse

I'm currently in my second year of nursing school. I plan on being an OR nurse at some point. What do I have to do to become an OR nurse? Are there certain training programs? Can I go directly into OR nursing after I graduate or is there a specific kind of nursing that I have to do first? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Apply to OR.  Many take new grads, some have other requirements, it really varies by facility.  But start looking at job boards (online) and you should get an idea for your area. My mom was a surgical RN for 48 years and loved every minute of it.  She was disappointed when I chose a different path. Good luck!
